  • I agree. I don't understand what Eli was trying to accomplish by checkraising. If Barry had a better hand than him, he was going to call. If he didn't, he would fold. And if Barry had a flush draw he would call the checkraise anyways.

  • My guess is rather simple here.

    The pot size

    The Stacks size.

    Barry fires all three barrels with a Four, AK, KK, AA. By turn the pot will be over 75k.

    Eli is probably the only player on the table who can represent 4 reliably enough to have KQ, KJ, QQ fold.

    Checkreising here simply prevents Eli from making a sad fold on the turn. It completely depends on will player fire two or three barrels when bluffing. KJ is a hand you call two barrels, not three. Checkreis is something the cheapway out

    I love it when donkeys "raise to see where they are at." It's pure profit for a good player like Barry.
