I don't blame the American people for being stupid. Their education system is certainly less-than-stellar and they have been brought up on the notion of egocentrism, and that their country is the best in the world even though most of them have never been anywhere else nor learnt about different cultures, political or economic systems other than the ones they have to immediately experience.
American's are obese, ignorant and not to mention stupid...well at least most of them! And it's a shame because america invented a lot of great things. Some of America's invention changed the whole world. But over the years America has been showing signs that they might just be the dumbest country. I think that because of America's previous achievements they think it's a birth right to be smart. America has become very lazy and has not done anything productive over the past few years.

I'm surprised the UK did so poorly with the same question considering it's impressive record of producing top-notch scientists. Germany is also surprising to me. These are all countries known for their scientists and breakthroughs. I wonder how some other countries would fair, especially those with drastically different educational systems. Very interesting.

I worry about America not having enough smart people in a technical sense. Many of the grad students here in science and engineering are foreign, and many of those return home. Our economy is based on tech; The rarer your skills, the more you can charge for them, and that fuels our high standard of living. So, I worry that won't be sustainable, as our advantage in the tech sector disappears.
And federal pushing of students towards science degrees in technology and biomedicine is practically non-existent. How about paying for their tuition? I'll suffer the tax hike. Mix that with a general mistrust of science by the creationist crowd, and you have a lot of folks choosing to find other work.
Oh, and I want 6 weeks off a year like the French...take it out of the CEO's paycheck that equals 500x the avg. worker in his company's salary. (It's only 50x in Europe!)

Mix that with a general mistrust of science by the creationist crowd, and you have a lot of folks choosing to find other work.
Oh, and I want 6 weeks off a year like the French...take it out of the CEO's paycheck that equals 500x the avg. worker in his company's salary. (It's only 50x in Europe!)

The insurance companies take in billions of dollars every year, and have systems erected so they don't have to help their clients and thus can achieve a greater profit. What if we were to delegate the task of healthcare to the government so that billions of dollars would be taken out of the hands of greedy bastards and actually put towards the reason people invest in insurance companies in the first place? Furthermore, Bill is actually opposed to the way Obama is handling health care right now and has made criticisms about it. Dumbing down everything is part of modern culture. And it's not just limited to America. In British Columbia where I live (check yer map dumbasses) the most popular newspaper in the province is edited for a 8th grade reading level. This is done just to maximize the readership base at the expense the of reporting. And that is common for all types of media. When everything is simplified and dumbed down all you get is a population that has no need to learn better. Everything is pre chewed for you
