@hunter tom3006: while I was in Makkah my wife took pictures of an art exhibition in the women's college. While I was in Kuwait lat year they were advertising for a big art event they were having in the capitol city. Qatar just built a huge state of the art art museum. This is just off of the top of my head. by the way I was born and raised in America and I am an artist. I am planning to try to enter the art market in the lands of my muslim brothers. May Allah make it easy.

haveing an art show here in the USA is like expressing your fellings, the right to imagine, and of course make a profit in this capitalistic country i live in.

Do you guys in Muslims countries have those 3 items I stated?

ما در چند ماه اخیر، تمام کتب درسی را که در حدود ۲۷۰ عنوان کتاب است، توسط ۷۰ متخصص مورد تجدید نظر قرار دادیم . در صد کتاب ابتدایی، ۱۲ هزار اصلاح انجام شد. در کتاب های مقطع ثانوی که در حدود ۱۴۷ عنوان بود، بیش از ۲۵ هزار اصلاح وارد شد

Was Calligraphy invented by Muslims? I think It was, well becaus ethere is Calligraphy in the Holy Quran

hmm dont think so because even the word "calligraphy" comes from the old greek Καλλιγραφία (kalligraphia). So calculate witch one was earlier :)

The ancient Chinese were creating beautiful calligraphy a long time before Islam. I think it's likely that most writing systems were beautified into a form of calligraphy as handwriting was the only way to reproduce text.

My only advice for beginners is to start with quite simple things like normal pencils.

Practice,the hand makes the artwork not the pencil ;)

I think the felt-tip calligraphy pens are nice and easy to start with, but really it's just a case of playing around. The metal nibs are not difficult for beginners to use. ~ Wasalaam.

Mashallah this is so good! I am a recent convert to Islam, and am an artist. I used to paint & sculpt portriats but can no longer do this, so am now looking at Islamic art. Inshallah I will be guided to learn tis new skill .. what a lovely way to learn more about Islam through art! Jazak Allah!
