  • As a man, I thought it would be pretty tough to lose you future wife to another man... but if GOD was the other man, I guess it might be a little easier, LOL.

I remember when she left Hollywood to join a convent, but finding this piece was a real eye-opener, amazing. I hope she found the peace here she could never find in Hollywood. I think the story would make a GREAT movie. Who knows, maybe she could do a cameo!

  • How beautiful is this story!

  • Wow man, how inspirational I find in this...If there are a thousand more souls like Mother Hart, the Hollywood kingdom would be a ruin!!!

  • This video makes me smile :)

  • Many are called, few are chosen. What a wonderful lady and great story.

  • Stay in Hollywood and lose your soul or give your life to Christ. I think she made the right choice.

  • Damn, what a waste. Such a beautiful woman up and becomes a nun. Isn't there some rule against that?

  • I love the part where she laughed & said, 'God has a sense of humor.' God bless you, Mother Dolores!

  • She HAD the face of an angel and HAS the heart of an angel.

  • wow an actress to a nun....that is complete nunsense lol get it?? haha

  • I'm happy for her, but my heart breaks for her fiance, a kind and loyal man. I wish he had found someone else worthy of him and had had a family.

  • the similarity to Grace Kelly is amazing...what an inspiration

  • i am happy she persevered and truly must have fallen in love with jesus

  • I remember her very well she used to teach at Villa Maria school in stamford back in the 60's she was beautiful even as a nun , I think that she realized that to sign a contract with hollywood was to sign a contract potentally with the devil , and she did not want that

  • lovely, GOD BLESS THESE WOMEN

  • holy cottonballs she really looked like Grace Kelly. She was so beautiful!

  • Nun's are beautiful :) I was once inside the church walking around and a nun walked pass by me she was in her 20s, she was so beautiful. I imagined if she wasn't a nun, the image wasn't very nice, I preferred here in simple clothes :)

  • what a story-got to be-nobody would do this today,my religion the catholic church be giving sermons about hewr today

  • Her mother at 3:01 has the most stunning face.

  • Any chance you could still upload the second part of this interview?

  • She's 70? Wow, simply beautiful.

What a great life decision she made. It's not for everybody but she seems to have made the perfect one for her life :-)

God bless and protect from temptation our Catholic religious!

  • An inspiring story, but I'd love to know more about the fiance. He seems such a good man.

  • @normalil He never married and I heard he visits Mother Dolores when he can.

  • @junmeskie Thanks for that..it's good to know.

  • @normalil The story of the fiance is quite a love story to tell,He never married and continually visits Dolores, Dolores wanted him to marry but he always reply "Remember what I said to you in the car if you do this (enter cloister) we should do this together". Until now he did it "together" :) A lovely side story of love :)

  • @normalil I read that he visited her every Christmas and Easter... up until his death on November 29th 2011 :( I got this off Wikipedia so it might not be true, but if it is I hope he rests in peace and may God bless him!

  • I remember her from the movie Francis of Assisi.

  • how old is this footage? she looks young for a 70-yr-old. God bless Mother Dolores always. Please pray for us poor sinners.

  • @singing4hope I remember this very well ABC 20/20 documentary of Mother Dolores Hart was aired in May of 2000 while I was confined in Midway Nursing Home for physical rehab my very first and traumatic experienced living with old sick people the place smell pee (urine) that week was also the burial of John Cardinal O'Connor was the eleventh bishop (eighth archbishop) of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York. I was able to have my combo TV/VCR in my own room and taped this show.

  • BTW prior to this interview by ABC 20/20 Fox Channel 5 did also an interesting interview of Mother Dolores Hart, I also was able to taped that show but due to several movings to deferent apartments or nursing rehab I lost the tape. So maybe anyone who is reading this and knows someone or works for Fox TV Network maybe they can do search in their TV Show Archives. I used to be a Youth Minister and told them about Dolores..

  • Does anyone know how old she was when she made St. Francis Of Assisi?

  • @LanaV6 Mother Dolores Hart was 24 yrs old when she entered the convent, she is now in her 70's religious order is called Poor Clares founded by

St. Clare she was born in the town of Assisi, in the Umbrian region of Italy, in 1193. Chiara or Clare meaning clear-radiant light was born of nobility and grew up with the privileges of wealth. Francis was born twelve years earlier. You can't tell the story of Clare without including Francis. He was her greatest inspiration, her mentor, her model.

  • The only thing that Clare and Francis had in common at this time was that they were both from Assisi. There was a great distinction in those days placed on those who were nobility and those who were rich. They were not always the same people. Clare's family was noble; Francis' family was rich.

The nobility always looked down upon the rich as being beneath them; while the rich knew they could very often buy and sell the nobility.

Frm: "Biographical Information about Saint Clare of Assisi"

  • @junmeskie The order that Dolores Hart entered was not the Poor Clares but the Benedictine Order....She is at the Abbey of Regina Laudes...Bethlehem,Ct. where she is currently the Prioress of the Abbey...

  • @junmeskie Ops you were right, I got carried away from LanaV6 comment Thanks for pointing my mistake,

  • @junmeskie Thank you very much. :o) St. Francis is my favorite Saint. He is a very special person.

  • @junmeskie the order that Dolores Hart entered was not tne Poor Cares but that of the Benedictine Abey of Regina Laudes...Bethlehem,Ct.

  • Junmeskie--great story, very inspirational! Thanks for posting it. May GOD Bless your health to improve.

  • Will you be posting part 2 soon? In the video, you have a statement saying it's in storage and to have patience, but it's been a year and half now. I hope you are feeling better.

  • @papercandles I just got discharged from Nursing Home for Physical Rehab, I will try my best to post Part 2 before Christmas. I am terribly sorry for this delay. God Bless!

  • @junmeskie : Oh, that's okay, it's perfectly understandable! I hope you are doing much better, my best wishes and god bless to you!

    Thanks for posting this video.

  • Wow ... amazing story. Thanks for posting this.

  • Edita Majić iz croatian Dolores Hart.

She left world in 2004 and went to Avila to become a discalced Carmelite nun.

    She's still there.

  • This is an amazing story. How any of us would leave all the bling, the coin, the adulation, to the renounce it all for tress, peace, and serenity.

    WOW

    k

  • Ive wondered what happen to her. I think maybe I was thinking it was her that died in car wreck ." Elvis lady co stars in first movies" I am very glad I saw this tonight and hope to see part two soon. Lots of respect to her.

  • Wow, what a beautiful story.

    God Bless.

  • In continuation... I hope Mother Dolores prays for me to in her prayer. I wish more of Hollywood actresses followed her example! I love religious people and specially the sisters have a great impact on me. When they are around i feel holiness surrounding me. The sisters are very kind and loving. My childhood was spent among the holy sisters. My special and favorite saint is St. Bernadette Soubirous. - Menino (Valpoi Goa)

  • I am From Goa & my name is Menino Fernandes and I am a practicing Catholic but a normal human being, a sinner just like any one else. To me Mother Dolores is the most magnificent woman in this world. I admire her courage and her great love and devotion to the Holy Mother of God. What she gave up 45 years ago, is the best sacrifice of her life. She acted in "St. Francis of Assisi" film playing the role of St. Clare and the same habit she wears today. I love her very much. Jesus bless her.

  • I greatly admire this good woman.

  • I have been writing to Reverend Mother Dolores since 1974, and she sent me the warmest, kindest letters when my mother died and before I underwent heart surgery last November. She is without a doubt one of God's gifts to this world we live in. God Bless all of you for your kind posts regarding this truly remarkable lady.

  • Dolores Hart is my great aunt :)

well she is my grandmother's neice....so I dont really know what that makes her to me. but i consider her my aunt :)

    very proud to

I am friends with her on facebook.

and yes, she is still a nun

  • @RaeRaeLovesSlassh21 ...Such a beautiful story. Can you tell me how to add Sr. to my facebook page as a friend? I've been trying but cannot find the right link to do so. God bless and thank you. Way to go Mother Dolores Hart! You are beautiful and we need more like you!

  • What an amazing story!

  • amazing

  • I showed this to my mother and she was like oh that is what happened to her. where the boys are was one of her favorite movies.

  • Grace Kelly?

I don't think so. Grace Kelly was fire & ice. This lady was a glass of champaigne.

  • I first heard about this thirty years ago, when I read about it in one of my old movie magazines. She was engaged to be married, but then she decided to give up her acting career and give her life to God.

The reason we have very few priests and nuns today is because young people want to get married, have kids, and have a high-paying career. But let me tell you this: fame and fortune doesn't buy happiness.

We need more Dolores Harts in this world today.

  • for all girls and young women discerning the religious life..."take Hart." :)

  • Hollywood lures young and nieve people, exploites them for there own agenda and then throws them to the dogs if they do not follow there path. Ms. Hart escaped the grip of the Satan and embraced The Truth.

  • Yes, please let's see the 2nd half. So far I perceive that she was afraid of the controlled life. Hollywood often turns the young and innocent into tramps. Their lives are no longer their own.

I was watching Elizabeth Taylor earlier. I think she must have had similar feelings...being in the movies from 8 years old.

Sometimes the industry seems to me like an organized mafia, where they can even tell you when to get your face carved.

I'm happy for Dolores Hart escaping.

  • Thank you. I hope to see the other half of this documentary

  • thanks for uploading this. I often wandered what happened to this beautiful actress.

  • Please give me more time as I said earlier the VHS tape is in the storage there are tons of boxes to take out I'm just waiting for the right time when I am physically fit to help lift these boxes.

I cannot tell you when cuss I have frequent severe gout (swollen joints)

Thanks & God Bless you (& the other here on same situation) for your understanding

  • ok thanks...

  • ok kiddo..i hope you get better.

  • i have already subscribe, but i haven't found the second part of the video.

  • what a beautiful life!

  • Hello from a fellow Legionary!

  • sorry to contradict you, but its not a life of enduring torment, or waste of time. God bless all who consecrate themselves to HIM for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven!

  • Well said dear Friend. May the Mother Mary and Jesus bless you for your answer. - Menino (Valpoi Goa)

  • I hate to cast negative light, but i must. This is not the proper way to serve God, and it is not the way to live a life. Neither God or Jesus ever said to shut yourself away. Jesus go OUT and preach the gospel. I feel sorry for these woman who literally gave up the life God offered them for this type of enduring torment.

  • Do feel sorry for them. God chose this life for them, it is a calling. These woman pray day and night for the world. they gave up all of the distractions of the world to be fully given in consecration to God, It is not tormet. They did not have to follow God's call if they didn't want but they did. God BLess You

  • Dear BarneyFlart: Your ignorance is breathtaking and your anti-Catholic prejudice is exuding from your pores. While you certainly have a right to your spurious opinion, please know that these women (and men) in religious orders dedicate their lives to contemplative prayer for the conversion of sinners, the salvation of souls (including mine and yours) and the betterment of our world. We have no way of knowing how many souls are saved or tragedies averted by their intercessory prayers.

  • Actually Christ did. I wish I can point out that passage but he supported people who decided to serve God this way. I'm not being biased, I'm protestant.

  • Yes they gave up their happiness for God. What do you know of God and the religious life? You are just an ignorant fellow trying to distract younger generation from following their call. Shut your silly mouth and pray for your soul and your conversion to Catholicism. Well one more thing, I am sure the holy sister including Mother Dolores must be praying for you and the likes of you - Menino (Valpoi Gos)

  • @MeninodeValpoi Sanctimony is not an attractive nor Christian quality. You might recall from the gospels that Jesus looked down upon those who considered themselves holier and "better than" others.

  • @chicagoandie He was referring to the Pharisees who went into the public and did good works for other men to see and cry out in loud voices like hypocrites. Monasticism is nothing like this.

  • Fervent, however perhaps you could mediate your fire and actually evangelize and be more effective.

What we know of God is what we know of God.

    be at peace

    k

  • FORMIDABLE !!!!!!!!

  • God bless you Dolores. Such a beautiful woman, who made such an amazing choice, with such an incredible life already. I'm sure the best is yet to follow for the good Mother, the greatest of things.

  • Isn't there a 2nd part?

I really admire her. She was honets and sincer to herself, enought to admit she wouldn't be happy until she said 'yes' for that calling. It takes a lot of courage to do so ;)

  • What an absolute waste of talent & beauty !!!!!

  • ftjax. upi are not her so but out!

  • yes, if it's the world you're out to please with such gifts. :)

  • Yes, a waste! The very definition of sacrifice.

  • I pray to God that when (God willing) I enter religious life, I can be as faithful to my vows, and as stedfast in my faith as her.

  • Amen! same here, Sister in Christ

  • Amen! Same here.
