@zirus111 Before Reach fell to the covenant, Master Chief split the Spartans into two groups, one group would stay and try to defend Reach, and the other group would try and capture a prophet which the UNSC would use to bargain with the covenant. Reach got taken over and glassed, killing all the Spartans and the ones on the other mission all died too, bar John-117, Who then takes Cortana from The Pillar of Autumn and crashes on the Halo ring, which starts the Halo series off.
