I enlisted my junior year in High school and went to Ft. Lewis for BCT that summer. Coming back from that, civilian life is just too naive and immature. You and many others may hate what im about to say but as a barry goldwater conservative I say that 9/11 wasn't fully investigated and it was sloppy/rushed and filled with disinformation about who the attacker was. I would also point out the fact that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11.Afghanistan appears to be for the purpose of drugs.We dont belong there.

It's strange: everyone I talk to that has been in the military says not to do it. Heh, nothing anyone says will persuade me otherwise. I just want advice on how to perform better when I get there. I'm not kill crazy or trigger happy. I KNOW what I want to do, and I will put everything I have into getting it done.

@JKendrickProductions They're saying "you don't know what you're getting into" not because of war or combat, but because Grunt life SUCKS. You have no IDEA how much it sucks. Little sleep, mindless hours of cleaning rifles, constant physical labor, always helping other companies out with their details, frequent 24 hour guard shifts, constantly being demeaned, not to mention the worst DFACs and barracks in the Army, etc. And I'm not talking about Basic, either.

I would like to comment on Kitacowowee's comment. I dont see how difficult it is to realize that he in fact was a Vietnam Veteran. He continued to serve his country until the mid 90s.If you're wondering how i would know, it is because he was my uncle( grandfathers' brother) using another family members account to comment. He's always comparing OEF to Vietnam and is strongly against risking US lives to stabilize a region that doesnt accept our help.

Positions are positions for a reason. A chain of command in the US Military is there for a reason. If you put Bush and Obama in the line of combat then why not the entire US Congress. They make the final decision on War, not the President.

@jaesi25 Actually if you knew anything about the World Wars you would know that it was the Canadians who were doing all the ass kicking in either one of them. For example, in WW1 and WW2 the Canadians were the ones who cleared the hardest beaches in Normandy and pushed the farthest into France. Also it was the Canadians who first entered Germany in both world wars and pushed the Germans back the farthest. So don't say it was the "us who defeated the Germans".

The canadians were amateurs, and though they did some great things, they barely lost a tenth of the people that the united states did.

I enlisted my junior year in High school and went to Ft. Lewis for BCT that summer. Coming back from that, civilian life is just too naive and immature. I LOVE my country but its citizens are naive and need to get a perspective before commenting on their military. Also foreigners need to stop stereotyping Americans. No one wants to fight in a war that has the whole world criticizing them but you follow orders and keep your head up.

each branch has its dangers...navy clearly the water....airforce is the sky...marines, army, national guard are all in the land. each branch should be respected cause they all have a very important role. i'm soon to deploy to that area. so there is no better branch then the other. you have to be in war to actually judge who is the best. but till then quit saying who's the best and who sucks.
