Not only did he capture the video but, he was also out there helping people. I think that is huge! Thanks Matt. And my favorite is the floating flower pot with my car's alarm going off in the background.
I lived in EC during Agnes in 1974. I believe the high water marker is still on the railroad bridge going toward Baltimore County. The water was covering the first story windows of most of the buildings. Unless somebody figures out a way to move the Patapsco River Ellicott City will continue to suffer floods for perpetuity.
Yes, it's marked at 14.5 feet, below the bridge (scary that just a few years later, '75, another storm came that flooded just a few feet lower). The 1868 floods are shown above the bridge. Yikes.
Sorry Matt, I put a message on the wrong video. My Black Toyota Celica Convertible is in that mess. My car was the one going off non-stop. I would love to have a copy of this video for nostalgia. I am in EC every wednesday. Please contact me at ecoridegreen@gmail.com
Matt - don't know if you've caught this, but you're on the cover of the Sun, shooting part of this video. The photographer was across the bridge, and you can match his shot with the point at just about 6:16 in your video. The photographer is Geoff Baker of Oella, who has more excellent photographs at oellaworks (dot) zenfolio (dot) com/ecflooding.
I may be a horrible person for this but as I am sorry it flooded ... I'm super jealous I wasn't there with my camera. Great opportunity captured. Nice job and thanks for sharing.
@themeggzerz Thanks! Main Street was clear by about 4pm, and the Tiber river is back to a normal level now. The Patapsco river is still raging, but it's at least 5 feet lower than it was at its peak this afternoon.

How is the flooding today? It hasn't stopped raining since yesterday! I hope the businesses don't suffer too much damage!

It is amazing how quickly the waters receded last night. What a relief.
