@sabellasummers The problem with that is that unless they file an actual DMCA that counts as hate speech, then they are performing an actual crime and thus can be held accountable. Look at what happened to VFX. However, to flag a purely defamatory video as hate speech does seem the right thing to do, as it does pose the very real threat of being banned should the user continue, and would diffuse many incindriary conflicts.

I'm am atheist and I don't think it would be hate speech. To be that it have to incite violence or prejudicial action against a person or group. I think we should be careful about what we call hate speech as if the term becomes too broad it limits free speech.
However if the religious calls to burn the heretics or deprive our equal rights it would be hate speech. But ridicule or insults is in my opinion not.
Missinformation might on the other hand be slander, but not hate speech.

The defamation perpetrated by those who are against atheism has gone too far when statements such as falsely claiming it to be a religion, claiming it to be synonymous with satanism, and many other claims garner respect. This is little differant than the anti-semitism that was in the early 1900's or the anti-islam ideology of the U.S. after the 9-11 attacks. It is best to quell this before it gets out of hand like with the past.
@crazyinsane500 It counts even if atheism is not a religion its still hate speech against a group of people Flag them calling it a religion isn't hate speech but saying hateful things about it is

I agree that censorship is wrong, although there comes times when the fallacies of the many must be shut down to protect the rights of the few. It's because people believe Atheism is synonymous with Satanism that people cannot openly admit their atheism.
@crazyinsane500 It's much like homosexuals, one cannot admit their homosexuality openly if they wish for equal opportunities as others in many places. This is because of hate speech that causes people to think that homosexuality is contagious, they have the sole purpose of indoctrinating your children, and that they will turn your kids into liberal, hippy, communist, atheist, chinese, mexicans. (And yes, I've actually heard that once by a genuine person, not a poe.)
@ScAgCoWbOy I don't find that as an insult either, but it's when they start prescribing attributes that are blatantly false that it gets into slander territory. And you know they(anti-atheists usually) lie about atheism for the sole purpose of spreading hate against it. Thus comes into reason that arguments of the such should be taken down as hate speech.
@crazyinsane500 yeah it's kinda annoying but I'm still all for the freedom of speech. You see, silencing their opponents is the theist method, we as atheists should be beyond that
