Now let's take it to the track. In a straight line, the Subaru will beat the T-5R. (Really it depends on who's driving & shifting.)
BTW, STis do NOT put out 300hp at the wheels. 265hp at the wheels is it's wheel output(divided through awd.) Volvo T-5Rs put out about 230hp at the wheels. The T-5's only weak points are the rods and a-transmission. Both do not like seeing 300hp.

For your info, a 850 T-5 is MEAN around a corner. A WRX can't corner that well because I've driven both cars and the T-5 is a little more well balanced.
But to the STi's credit, it's faster than a T-5R but they have the same cornering abilities(the STi CANNOT be thrown into a corner like everyone says. It responds like a FWD, slow in, fast out much like any FWD.)
FWD was the thing back when 850s came out and Volvo took a step in a direction everyone had taken.
It is true that Subaru's have more traction due to having AWD. But you can launch a Volvo 850T5-R almost as well if you know what you're doing. It's all about the proper shifting technique.

And a type 25 isn't really a good suby to compare to other cars because its a company that tunes them.
