Hey Steve, few things: grad students are essentially apprentices, and most of the developed world don't expect them to pay tuition.
Also, you should ease your concerns, the school year will not be lost. CUPE knows this, the school cannot afford the $125 Million or so dollars it would cost to cancel a semester, especially when what is being asked for pales in comparison.
Also, the US and UK governments have spent over a trillion and a half dollars since the financial crisis happened. Why?
It would have been better next time they strike, fire them all.
