Feels like Church! Let's say in the AME Church tradition, the first part would be excellent during the Altar Call...the latter faster part would be after everyone has had chance to pray and believe God has heard their earnest prayer...and are ready to rejoice for the blessing.
i like the nice traditional slow arrangement in the beginning. My laud this guy can play. Man let me know when if you ever come to the minister's conference in Hampton, Virginia.
I will try to make a video of it sometime, and yes I believe its faster, I haven't played it in awhile but I'll go practice it. I'm gonna have to practice it your way too!
Told u #1 funeral song...went to my uncle's funeral yesterday, and wouldnt u know the FIRST song the choir sung: O I want to see him....and the white dude who played the organ was killin it...at a blk church lol
THEY HAD TO "TOTE" ME OUT...somethin bout lookin at them caskets and them choirs singin' them old hymz...nothin u can do lol...my momma told the usher yall take him out lol
Take you out? Must've been a ghetto funeral! Did you crawl in the casket or fall out in front of the deceased waving your hands in the air? Did you bring that movie 'Kingdom Come' alive? There's nothing like a black funeral. Cousin Rae Rae with is collar up and shades on with converse tennis shoes on. Aunt Lula with old skool knee high panty hose on fanning away rockin and feet tappin. The Preacha with his greased down nappy hair tryin to talk proper with a bad slur misquoting Scripture.
when i was a kid growing up in South Carolina my grandfather pastored a church and the choir marched in on this song every sunday. "cares all past home at last ever to rejoice"
Man...this sounds good. Has that old-school baptist feel to it...where you use to see the saints rocking back and forth. I could listen to this all day. Thank you for blessing me! Reminds me of my grandmother's church. Keep on playing!!!
This is an awesome rendition of this timeless Gospel Eschatological hymn. Cause the old saints of yester-year to raise their hands and holla out randomly under the anointing of the Spirit. Sounds excellent!
Aiight flock, I feel a TREND a'comin'. Who else among y'all's got a version? There's been a call... a response... fire up ya' Leslies and show us sumpin!!
I absolutely love the chord structure you used in this song. Is it possible for you to post your chords? That would be wonderful as I see some variations in there as I watch you play. Thanks!
Wow Fred, you weren't kidding about the bass on the CV. The video picks up the CV's bass pedals really nicely. Can't wait to play my CV. It should be here on Friday.
Ryan, sitting under the Leslie doesn't allow for the full magnitude of the bass. It's usually after I listen to a recording that I realize just how much bass is produced from this organ. Now, imagine if I played left-hand bass along with the pedals....WHEW that would be KILLER. Can't wait to see/hear your CV and 21H Leslie. CONGRATS.
old school huh? I use to go to a church some years back and we use to always sing that song. Its sounnds good though! I didn't relize that was a cv till now
you betta play that thang! yes sir!

Thanks for the comment. I would like to hear your rendition, as we learn from one another, right?
So, your rendition is even faster than the tempo change I made around 1:40? Man, I'd REALLY love to hear that...
Be blessed, Matt!!

Yeah, this is how we used to do it down south [old school]. So, are you saying that this version doesn't qualify as 'old school'? LOL
Honestly, I could have played it better...just need to be more focused matching the chords better.
