I HAVE MET ROBERT RANDOLPH AROUND THREE MONTHS AGO, TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I DONT LIKE HIS MUSIC AT ALL.BUT IT IS NOT ONLY HIS MUSIC I DONT LIKE, IT IS JUST THE FACT HE HAS A DOUBLE PERSONALITY REALLY SCARES ME.HE HIRED ME TO DO A JOB FOR HIM, I AM A SINGLE FATHER WHO TAKES CARE OF MY SON, ROBERT RANDOLPH NEVER PAID ME FOR THE JOB I DID IN HIS HOUSE, A NICE HOUSE IN WEST ORANGE NJ BUT ONLY HE COULD AFFORD IT. HE CAN AFFORD ANYTHING EXCEPT TAKING CARE O A POOR GUY LIKE ME. GOD BLESS YOU ROBERT
Truly a genius. This guy blew me away. I actually found him in 2000, and I've been a fan ever since. I mean, c'mon, pedal steel, man?? Are you fucking kidding me??
im a grown f**kin man but to be honest robert randolph made me cry when i saw him play live.. seen infinite amounts of blues bands but this guy.... this guy just has somethin more
this band is amazing not just robert randolph everyone in his band is so talented if u ever get a chance to go see him life don't pass it up he puts on one of the best live shows out there hands down
not the biggest Michael Jackson fan ever. But Robert Randolph and his kin can lay down a tune and make it rock. I also find it funny that they (Robert's family) come from outside of the secular community and they all have better skills than any other musicians coming out today... save a few. They have learned a good list of classic tunes and they do their own thing.
effing brilliant!! These guys rock! The sitting down guitar instrument (sorry, have no idea what it's called and when I tried to google "sitting down guitar" all I got was base and cello) made it sound just like someone was singing it....freakin' awesome.
@Cuchifrito it's called a pedal steel guitar and it's used primarily in gospel and country music. Robert Randolph has taken the instrument out of the church and brought it to rock music. His live shows are an AMAZING experience. They are full of so much energy it's ridiculous!
@pretorious700 If knowledge of pedal steel is crucial to create progeny and get them to the point where they can do the same, then indeed his theory have have a hole in it.
yeah i love his positivity....and singin of love and....it really don't matter what kinda of person you are.....we can all groove together!....i love it!
@SheaBearden I just stop by to say hello because we share the same name Randolph. I am also a musician, keep doing great work my brother. David Randolph
Damn straight! A friend introduced me to RR&TFB a few years back after heard them on one of the late-night TV shows. I picked up the album and never looked back. Listen to how awesome these guys. It's a shame that real music like this never gets the attention it deserves in the mainstream - requires too much IQ to enjoy it.
I saw them in a small club a few years ago and when I heard that bass line start up I was shocked but impressed. They had played Led Zep's No Quarter earlier in their set and that floored everyone. They are a great band.
Actually if you check out Bob Lee's site ("The Pedal Steel Pages"), under Copedents / Unusual / Sacred Steel, the second to last diagram is Randolph's or close to it. The K and P columns mark what the knee levers and foot pedals do (in case you didn't already know).
what a piece of crap crowd. i've seen them play a few times and it's amazing! they genuinely love what they do. it's refreshing to watch a band with such enthusiasm. take 'em to church, robert!
I can't stand how foreign countries keep titling it as "Billy Jean"!! IT'S ON THE ALBUM AS "BILLIE JEAN"!!! What is their problem!?!?!? That's Micheal's most famous song geese get it right!!
Robert Randolph is the only artist I have ever heard that produced versions of Michael Jackson's music that really respected the music while adding his own style!
Now THIS is how you break off an MJ cover!!! What's even cooler is that I heard another version where the band speeds it up to the point where it sounds like the classic tune we all know and love. Not sure if it's still floatin' around on here though...

SheaBearden.
I've been raving about them for years now, but the "corporate head honcho's" wouldn't know talent if it hit them like a Mack Truck!
I have e-mailed Ellen Degeneres several times to have her get RR & The Family Band to appear on her show to no avail.
Her show always opens with a dance tune and she has had some very good artists on her show already.
To watch Robert perform is simply infectious. He has such a positive personality. I'll keep trying...
