  • @S8OR I agree completely, those lamps get super hot way too fast but that was all I had on hand at the time.

  • I'd love to see some more photography how to's, with your witty narration... not to mention your awesome cat!

  • @Auctiva, Awww thank you very much! I'm no master photographer so I don't know how much else I may have to teach but perhaps at some point i will. :)

  • Thanks a lot

    Nice clear instructions

Yes 60 watt better and another above

    john uk

  • @Urra40, Thank you, I'm glad you got something good out of the video.

  • i'll prefer using 60 watt halogen light bulbs because they are brighter

  • Excellent. After spending a huge amount on a professional box that is just to small for what I need I have now made one the perfect size for my purpose for less than 10% of the cost. Doh!!! Well we live and learn hey. Thanks so very much

  • @5jeffy , You're quite welcome, I'm thrilled that it's working out for you.

  • Thank you for the video, I really appreciate it. I wonder if you could provide a bill of materials that you used at the end of this video. I'm deaf and can't hear your voice. The parts you show in the video do look easy enough to identify. It is just nice to see a parts list for confirmation. Perhaps when you do future videos that show something you built, you can film a parts list at the very end.

  • You're not cheap and easy. You're very sweet.

  • @djcondra , Aww thank you very much! *big smile*

  • Don't pay attention to him. I think you're hot.

  • @jvhancock, thank you, that's very kind of you to say!

  • @jvhancock, and I think you're very sweet for saying so. thank you!

  • Very cool! And an excellent price!

  • Maybe this is worth spending $40 on Amazon after all -_- seems like a lot of work for me. Thanks for sharing though!

  • Great! Wanted one which don't take up any space when I don't use it and this was what I was looking for. I guess it’s to difficult to set up for XanadarX.

  • Thank you very much for your lightbox, love it!.

(Dont' listen to many idiots around, like XanadarX

  • Cheap and easy (just like me) so you are a fucking whore!

  • Great idea but you don’t have go on a bit could have built a house in the time you took to build a light box

  • Trust me u can make a cheaper one and better one from a box and White tissue paper lol

  • @XanadarX - then do so!

  • @tushygalore Already have and works better, faster set up better pics everything just better

Who wants to mess around with pipes ect too much messing around just use a big box and tissue paper and some common sense end of

  • @XanadarX If you have room to store a box then that's swell but I do not.

  • @XanadarX: I bet if you saw a video about sucking dick you would tell everybody all about how you can do it better huh. go stick that tissue box up your ass fucking Troll.

  • @XanadarX why are you hell bent on criticizing me???? I needed a light box, I was told how to make one and simply thought it would be fun to share the details... THAT'S ALL! I didn't post it to get crap from people with superiority complexes. You do your thing and let me do mine... it doesn't hurt you or take anything away from you.

  • @tushygalore Don't sweat it. There are a bunch of jackass people that post negative comments without doing videos of their own. Sorry idiots is what they are... Thanks for the vid, it's gonna work for me!

  • So easy.. I lyk it :)

    Thanks for this tutorial

  • very useful video, im a complete novice with photography and this tutorial went at a nice pace for me to follow. Thanks!

  • an even cheaper one is a cardboard box with square windows cut out on top, and sides. then use tissue paper (the ones used for gift bags) and tape them nice and firm to the openings of the box, shine some light and your done..total cost :$0.25 - $1

  • @supersal001 - I suppose that would be fine if you have a place to store a large cardboard box but I don't. Thanks.

  • You have a nice voice. You should get into a career as a voice over or radio personality. Nice video!

  • @troynetta - Thank you troynetta! I've been told that a few times, my father worked as voice talent for about 30 years, I guess I get it from him. :)

  • Wow! You ARE a chick magnet! You stud!

  • @terrapin52 I SO am!

  • you have a very nice, soothing voice! I enjoyed this video. I was about to buy a light box actually, but yeah i think I am going to make my own! Thanks!

  • Aah, now this is a good idea! Defuses the light and bounces it all around for nice even tones. This would be perfect for photographing sculptures n' such. Thank you :)

  • you have a few hot spots (the over exposure) but other than that, it looks great

  • las luces estan muy mal equilibradas..

  • @sergiopellin fuck speak english

  • Great tutorial. I plan to make one of these babies ASAP.

    One suggestion:

For stability, make a bottom section identical to the top section to prevent the legs from wobbling.

  • Thanks for uploading video. This will definitely save me money as well. lol

  • im on my way to the home depot. this is very helpful. and i loved the cameo appearance your cat. the video was very helpful for me. its my first time making one of these. i've seen other videos that do it with a cardboard box...i tried it.. too much work. this looks easier. and i can take it apart when im not using it. you should put a patent on this. to hell wit the crits.

  • Excellent! I'm so glad my video was helpful to you. :)

    Best of luck!

  • This could have been 14 minutes and 30 seconds shorter.

  • Then make your own, you twat!

  • THAT REPLY IS SOME FUNNY SHIT! GOOD FOR YOU! @tushygalore

  • @tushygalore Do you know how stupid that sounded?

  • @tushygalore lol spot on.

  • Is that supposed to be an insult? Weak

  • haha, nice one!

  • Nice job. Just a note on the use of "male," which you characterized as a crude descriptor. It is simply part of the vernacular of mechanical engineering. Male parts fit into female parts. A street elbow, for example, has a male end and a female end to identify functionality. It has nothing to do with sexuality, other than deriving a purely mechanical reference.

  • Very informative. I like to follow along with videos so all the info u provide is an asset. Thank you.

  • I'm pleased that you found it helpful. Thanks for taking time to comment. :)

  • Thanks :)

  • Thank you!

  • Awesome Job!!!! Just the information I needed and I only serached the term How to make Photography box once and your tutorial came up. Thanks a million!!

  • You''re quite welcome, I hope it works out well for you!

  • thank you.

  • I think you did a nice job on the video- I think that it isn't too long and you went into just the right amount of detail for the novice- and I don't think you were pedantic to the viewer. Maybe you should re-title it " Small Object Lighting Box" to be clear that you're not building a device for viewing slides or negatives via back lighting. Great job- don't be discouraged by the naysayers!

  • I thank you very much and the title change is a good idea, I'll do that right now.

  • Thanks a lot for uploading this! I was wondering if you have any samples of pictures. I'd love to try this.

  • MOMBOOO ....cute cat

  • and the white drape as well?

  • The white drape was just a cheap sheet.

  • thank you, very helpful

  • what kind of materiel is the blue backround please?

  • The blue was some poster board. You can find it at Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, hobby and craft store etc. It's usually in with the school supplies.

  • Don't get me wrong but I think this 14min video can be compressed into 4min. It's as if you're taking you're audience as idiots. Most of the stuff you say is pretty much self explanatory. Guess this comment will be flagged down but it's just my 2 cents.

  • Look.... I spent a lot of time and energy making this video out of a spirit of wanting to share something cool with people.

I've made other instructional videos and when I don't include fine details I end up spending hours at my inbox answering the barage of question concerning those tiny details I left out assuming people could figure it out themselve.

Why not just thank me for my attempt and leave out the criticism? Or just say nothing and find a 2min long video. No one forced you to watch.

  • too much boring talks...

  • then go to hell.

  • Thank you for the suggestion but this video has been up for a year or more and no one has given me a problem over it. Besides, I tend to be a little suggestive with my video titles and such when I vlog and no one seems to mind. ;)

  • thanks for the tutorial.

  • You're quite welcome. :)

  • Nice work, good use of available cheap materials. I'm going to make this to use in a home inventory project, Big Thanks, !

  • I'll make my videos as long and boring as I want to make them and you can watch or not watch, I really don't care.

  • Stupid, and Ignorant. Thanks. next time, spell time right, and dont comment. thanks.

  • Search by CLICZOOM on Youtube and have a surprise aboute beetle (car).

Digite CLICZOOM no youtube e tenha uma surpresa.

  • "my mom came from somewhere with them"..... your explaination is way too long and boring. Get to the point !

  • at the 2:19 timeframe you are describing the lengths of the PVC poles... you say 2 x 23" ... 2 x 16" and 4 x 23" .

Is this correct, the 4 dont look 23" long?

  • OK, I heard later at the 8:06 mark that the short ones are 14"

    Thanks!

  • this is wa wonderful video thank you for posting it

  • Wish I could see the result of the photographs.

  • Unfortunately my camera bit the dust shortly after making this video. I'm in the market for a new one but it's going to be a month or more before I'm ready to make the purchase, then perhaps I can show some shots taken in the box. :)

  • nice and informative, but way too much yap.

  • Yeah I agree.

Very nice and educational because I've tried to find a tutorial like this, but damn...I had to fast forward it to get past the yappin'.

  • Your money will be refunded in full.

  • check out 'DIY Macro Studio' by 'justsomekid2' for a supremely elegant, minimalist and informative tutorial.

i did like yours too tushygalore, so please don't lose heart, but maybe there's a lesson for you here too.

  • You could repost this video under the title "Cat House Tutorial" since he seems to like it so much!

  • GREAT! I Love it!!!!

    ---

  • Nice informative video and good ideas for building a lightbox!

  • Excellent light box!! What a neat and inexpensive way to shoot those smaller items..

    Thanks for sharing!!

  • CHICK MAGNET!!!!! love your T-shirt, oh and great video, will help me alot

  • I'd just bought some materials for the 'conventional' cutting box from sideways and stuff.. but never get to see this until today.. ugh.. wished i had. Very nice tutorial.. btw, the clamps, you can changed it with just blue tacks, slower but it works and less crinckle on the paper so can be reused more. Thx for sharing

  • The worst lighting i´ve ever seen.

  • Hey, don't be such a douche! It looks much different in a still photo than it does on video.

If you have something constructive and helpful to say then do so, otherwise STFU.

  • dont bitch becuase you dont like someone elses opinion you stupid fucking cunt

  • Yanno..... it would be nice if people would show a little gratitude. I learned to make something helpful and inexpensive which helped me out and I went to the considerable trouble of making a video showing it to whomever might need something like this and I really don't need or deserve abuse for all my trouble!

Keep your shit opinions to yourself!

  • Haha. I'm on your side. I understand the idea but you can't use same idea for those small objects because of the lights. A softer light needs. Use cardboard material on both sides.

  • Wonderful tutorial! This beats the trash I made with cutting holes in a box.

  • AWESOME!! I want me one!

  • Oh and thanks for throwing that delicious Sonic drink in there at the end. I'm jealous. I want me some Sonic now.

  • With all this talk of rods and poles and inserting, it just makes me want to make some bad jokes. But I'll just say, well done hun.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I will have to try this for my pictures and future products I plan to sell. I can NEVER get good lighting. And this is SO much cheaper than the 50 dollars Walmart wanted for the kit that had a smaller cube. Thanks again hon!

  • Wow! This is a really cool idea. :3 I might have to do something like this for my photography class. XD Thank you so much. ^_^

  • That is pretty nifty.

  • Vary interesting and awesome. well done

  • 10:02 was funny, good video I might try this someday when I get more into photography someday.

  • You need to be a CVC spokeswoman. They would make millions more! Hehe:)

  • Great tutorial, thanks Auntie!

  • Good Job! Mambo looks so sleek and pretty in the box:)

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I ebay a lot and etsy too so I will be building myself a "TushyGalore Light Box"... Thanks again!

  • you did a very good job..

  • Cool video, I didn't see the little, inny outty

pieces when I was building with pvc.

They would have come in handy.

What are you going to build next?

  • Great video!

  • I love this!

  • Very well done!

  • That is the most awesome video!!!! You make it look so simple that now I want to go get the materials to make one myself. I love your smooth voice and also your easy to understand presentation. Of course Mambo adds much to the character of the video!

    Auntie

  • Very nicely done! :) PVC pipe is an amazing thing, in my opinion. I think for the backdrop, it would work well too if you had any thick fabric laying around (so it wouldn't let the light seep out). Thanks for the video! I'm adding another project to my To Do list. :)

  • Great tutorial!
