fucking morons reporting this story. she didnt even listen to the guy. the ivy leagues arent backups, the school his son applied to took 200 kids, so he applied to other top schools in the US who take thousands of kids. no wonder indian kids are raping us.

@AnE000002 Its 200 kids in the computer science department alone not all of IIT (which takes in over 3000 students per year)

Indian Kids using our Ivy League school as a backup or "safety" school is a wrong way to look at it. They basically don't have enough top school in India. It seems exclusive because that's all they have over there. So it's not that they settle for Harvard. They just had no room in India.

@kmckoy13 I agree, but it depends on the person. Not all Indians can afford to study abroad. But most prefer Indian institutes, like the IIT's or IIM's over any college abroad(not necessarily for financial reasons). The reason we turn abroad is that the colleges there have a higher acceptance rate: MIT has an acceptance rate of 9.7%, while that for IIT is a bit less than 2%. Then again, your schools do have better facilities... maybe its the fact that you're "IT" if you're an IITian here, lol =)
