Just North of the Yucatan penninsula is a small Island called Isla Holbox. The waters around isla holbox is a mixture of cold nutrient rich water and warm water, so plankton and krill thrive there, which brings the whale sharks. As a graduation present my Grandparents took me to Isla holbox and I got to swim with whale sharks. They're absolutely beautiful. In Mexico, they're nicknamed "Dominos" because of the patterns on their dorsal side.
