Terrific looking set! I've thought about trying to put this one together through bargain hunting on auction sites. Any advice you can share from one collector to another? I can afford to contribute, say, $2-3k/yr toward this project... and a big THANK YOU for sharing this with everyone! ~ Matthew
@mmorgen100 Hi there Matthews - thanks for watching my video and for your comment. Glad to hear you're going after this classic post-war set! For $2 - $3k / year, you can definitely put this set together in a very respectable condition... If you can start out by buying a lot of 150 - 250 (or more, if possible) of the commons in one lot, then it becomes much easier to fill in the rest of the set. be patient, especially when buying the big cards. Good luck!!
Do you know if anybody still has any unopened boxes or packs of the 51 bowman still unopened? I can't find any online.... Would love to buy one but I bet the price of one would be thru the roof! And is the 51 bowman yogi's true rookie? Thanks... Awesome collection... I'm trying to catch up with ya
@homerbailey4 Thanks for checking it out. That's probably a fair retail price for it... You know, I'm surprised that out of the dozen or so videos I have up, this one has surprisingly not a lot of views... Hmmm....
Wow!! Your collection is unreal. I just got back into the card game and would like your opinion. I'm collecting the 54 topps baseball set and now going after the big cards. 1. Should I keep the stars ungraded and 2. How do you spot an Aaron fake?
@chosl17 54 topps is a great set!! i like to get the stars graded. In fact, any vintage card over $100 - $200 i would recommend buying already graded. Don't know how to spot an aaron fake, but if you buy one already great you have a much better shot at getting a real one!! good luck!!
he made a video of sum of the better cards and sumbody i guess found his address and stole them they just stole the cards nuthing else n the house so sumbody new he had them
Do you mean 1959 Topps? I was thinking about going for the 1933 Goudey set, but it's really expensive. If I go for another big set, I would want it to be a different generation form the 51 bowman set, so 59 might have too much overlap...
hey bro u responed to mine so it may not get to dz just letting u know btw congreats on the crown of best on the tube dz's beed the best since i stated (more then a year ago)
chibbz23 -- thanks for your comment. the 48 bowman set is a true classic. Good luck completing it. You better make a video of it when you're done so you can share it with the collectors on youtube!!
Thanks for your comment parkwoodtc12. I'm sure i'm not the top collector in NY. There's a lot of people out there with a much better collection than mine -- in fact, a lot of them where at the card show last weekend at Hofstra on Long Island, NY. Thanks for the compliment though.
I used to pick those cardboard boxes up a the local card store. I haven't bought one recently, but I'm sure they're still available at most card shops. What do you collect? Good luck!!
Hi parkwwodtc12! thanks for watching my video -- make sure to check out my other videos on youtube. This IS the complete set!! I did not make the video because i'm trying to sell it, but if you're really interested, you can make me an offer -- everyone has their price, right!!
gosh how long have u been collecting u must have like 10,000 cards and there all awsome and probably worth a lot of money the best i have is either a cal ripken or robb quinlan auto and plus how do u get ur cards graded
Thanks for watching my video and for your comment. I actually have never sent a card in to get graded -- any graded card i have was bought that way. Keep collecting -- it's a lot of fun!!!
Very cool stuff, and to have it in high grade really makes it great. The 51 and 52 Bowman sets are my favorite older sets. I love the look of the 1952 Bowman Stan Musial card. Sometimes simple designs of the past are better than current flashy and glossy designs.
Do you have any old tobacco cards? I have seen some of them in your vintage card collection vid. I love the tobbaco cards, they are the prettiest cards to collect. I love the design on them and looking at all the old tobbaco ads.
hey bennyscards - thanks for the post. I just recently started looking seriously at tobacco cards and I have my eye on 2 - 4 cards i would like to pick up. I try to be patient when going after high-end cards, so don't know how long it will take for me to get them. Once i get some new good stuff, i'll make a new vid...
Thanks for watching my vids and for your comments. i collected in the late 80 when i was 10 -12 years old. Used to get cards for my birthday, etc. I started up again when i graduated college in 2000. most of the vintage stuff is from post college collecting. How about you? how did you get into the hobby? what do you collect? you should post a video!!
I collected cards as a kid in the mid to late 70's and after a long time away I have returned to collecting the past few months.
I collect Topps cards of my three favorite players, Richie Allen, Ron Santo & Billy Williams. I am also working on the 1967 Topps Football set and have the '69 set complete.
I also have the complete sub set of Topps all stars from 1958 Baseball.
I have no graded cards and do not care to have any, but that is a personal preference.
Thanks for watching my vid 123topps. You know the funny thing about mays is that everyone i talk to who watched him play says he is their favorite player of all time!!
Thanks for your comment brentsapp. The card grading company incases the card, so some companies keep the card in a soft plastic holder (BGS) and some do not (PSA). If your question is about the plastic film some card manufacturers put on the front of the card, i'm not sure if you should leave it on or take it off before submitting to get graded. I'm always nervous to mess with a card, so i would lean towards leaving the plastic film on, but maybe someone else has a better answer for you...
Thank you for checking out my video. To be honest, i'm not sure what you're referring to. Make sure to click on "Watch in High Quality" when you are viewing this video. There may be a glare from the light on some of the cards, but besides that, I'm not what black thing you see. Check out my other videos!!
What's up bruinsfan94. I have ideas for two, or possibly 3 more videos. I'm hoping to have a new one up before the end of november. Thanks for watching!!
bruinsfan94 - i love the '60 set. yaz rc is awesome. i love the aaron card from that set too. overall its an awesome looking set w/ some great players. if you look at my pack video, you'll see i have a sealed graded wax pack from '60. I think you've inspired me to go for it myself!!!
Thanks for your comment. I tried to be consistent on condition by not dropping below a 5/6, and in many cases going above. Make sure to check out my other videos!!
Thanks for your comment. It took me about two and a half years. One of my first purchases was the Ford RC in march 2006 and i just finished the set up recently. Hope you enjoyed the video!!

Or 1915 Cracker Jack?
