Hopefully he can take over Brandon Jacksons role and be solid in shotgun formation with picking up blocks and recieving. Hopefully coming from Hawaii he can adjust quickly.
As good as this video looks............Remember this is college ball ! I would love to think that he could make a good impact on the Packers(god knows we need a runner that wont get hurt!) But do not get too excited yet folks! I am one Packer fan that is sick of Grant, yes I know he has had good numbers but he is out half the season or more every year!
@jjrkthefirst i know right i think grant is good and all at acceleration but he is not strong and at all thats why i hope Alex Green is good because he looks fast and seems strong also
ok lets look at it this way....he's a 6' 225lbs runningback with a 4.45 40yrd time and is bred to run from spread formations, which the packers use more than under center. he has good(not great) break away speed, not afraid of contact, and can change direction quickly. i think this was a good pick and with TT's judgement i'm fully into this one
@theking121696 it was like 3rd and goal...he met with the DT and a linebacker right on the line....he scores and walks away, 2 guys knocked out of the game....
All you Green Bay fans, don't you worry about the pick. Obviously, Green Bay saw something in this guy, something enough to want to pick him up. I think he'll do just fine. He looks pretty fast and can cut, slice, and dice through tackles like a red hot barbers razor through butter. Good going Green Bay and best of luck and skill to Mr. Alex Green in the NFL.
If only it were this easy in the NFL where Green could have a game where he'd avg. 17 ypc and not 4-5. And although he's slicing those defenses like microwaved butter, it looks like that is the defense not playing the run at all. Regardless, I'm excited to see what he brings to the Pack.
I dont know if any of you have noticed, but most of his big plays come off the draw. Those skills can be extremely beneficial for green bay with that high powered pass attack. Finley jennings driver jordy/cobb w green in the backfield is going to be a nightmare... I sware i feel the nfls first 3-peat comin.

Williams? I'm a student at the University of Arkansas and I love him to death. He was a ridiculously good T.E. for us in college, just hope he can make the transition too.
@pscoggs ya but its not like hes staying the same ability. hes getting better on the offseason and as he transitions into the nfl and he has a great team to back him up.
@GetDatSteak I don't mean to take away from him at all. I'm only voicing concerns that he played in a bit of a lax conference that wasn't the best to prepare him for NFL level defenses. He can get better, my only worry is that he won't prepare and gets overmatched by more athletic or at least more prepared football players, but I agree that he has the tools to become a great running back and it's up to him to work to the goal of becoming an NFL caliber back, which i don't think he is right now.
@wisdaniel I'm not doubting the ability of the players in the conference because every division and conference has NFL caliber players. But the WAC as a conference does not draw the same caliber players other conferences do, so the stratification of these NFL level players are much more dispersed through the teams. This makes the conference weaker as a whole, regardless of who came from it. The WAC simply has fewer chances to acquire impact players like teams in the more powerful conferences.
Green + Cobb lets say quick TD's finally TT you getting speed players cant wait for the season to see these guys score cant wait to score with them on Madden 12 GO PACK
@masteromox aye, so they knew what they needed and wanted. Guaranteed he would not have been there for the next round. Other teams were looking at him as well.
To be fair, his o-line was giving him holes big enough for a train, still great vision on a lot of those runs..... he is a Stephen Jackson remix, and not just because of the dreds
The future of the running game in GB will consist of Starks, Green, Kuhn. Starks is a quick downhill runner who has obvious talent and speed, Green and Kuhn are big time bruisers.
We don't need anymore than 70 yards a game from these guys, but trust me they'll give us 100 and more.
@waterbottle1001001 isn't grant only under contract for one more year? If I am correct I would assume they let him go in 2012. Of course if Starks can't stay healthy I think he would be resigned.
I'll just say I view him as on the way out, who knows whether or not he'll be the primary running back this year. The way Starks ran the ball you'd have to believe he's every bit as good as Grant was pre-injury.
The Packers offense just got a lot better with Randall Cobb and Alex Green . I feel sorry for the rest of the leagues defenses because with the return of Finley and the added fire power through the draft the Packers are going to be unstoppable on offense . Aaron Rodgers MVP and Superbowl MVP AGAIN .
Are you guys seriously saying that 4.4 yards per carry isn't good ? there are tons of HB's in the NFL who wish they could pick up that kind of yardage on a play by play basis and while he isn't Adrian Peterson Ryan Grant doesn't have to be as the Packers are a passing team who with a full stable of running backs this year with Starks , Grant , Kuhn and Green will be a nightmare for defenses and add that to the addition of Randall Cobb at WR/KR and the return of Finley and the Pack cant be stoped
This guy's highlights are all against WAC teams like Utah State and NMSU. Big whoop. I don't see any highlights of him when Hawaii played Notre Dame or USC. Wonder why? Congrats, you beat up on the JV. This dude ain't ready for the show by a mile. Those breakaway speed clips weren't like he was putting distance between himself and the defenders, either. Pathetic pick. Could have taken that UGA guard, then gotten a 3rd down back of a higher caliber later, Ted. (BTW I am a Packer fan)
@rkwittem First off Alex wasn't with Hawaii when they played Notre Dame in 2008. Secondly, he was tearing USC up when Hawaii played USC. If Hawaii wasn't down by a lot and passing just to keep up, then Alex could of got more opportunities to gash USC. Learn some facts dude before you talk big.
@cruman87 Why don't you learn some facts? The guy is dominating the WAC. How many of the top RB's in the class would have done that or better? (Imagine Ingram or LeShoure or Todman or DeMarco Murray playing WAC garbage every Saturday. They'd all look like studs, wouldn't they? Except they went up against the best of the best and got a chance to play against guys that may actually sniff the next level, unlike these WAC hacks.
@rkwittem Yes he played in the WAC, that is a fact. A fact that I did not deny. You on the other hand brought up false information. Thats what I have a problem with. Now back to Alex Green in the WAC. So what that he played in the WAC. Ahmad Bradshaw, Chris Johnson and Matt Forte played in the C-USA, James Starks and Michael Turner played in the MAC, and the great LaDainian Tomlinson played in the WAC. The point is, just cause you played in BCS conferences doesn't mean you're a better player.
@cruman87EXACTLY some people just sip the BCS kool-aid an believe all the best players are in those conferences an all Non BCS school athletes cant hold a candle to their athletes when we have guys like Jamarcuss russel, Ryan Leaf getting drafted in the 1st round an bust out. While guys like Joe Flacco from 1-aa end up playing will an have a good thing going while he played in a d-2 league. It doesnt matter what league you play in if you got "IT" YOU GOT "IT"
@cruman87 Then why on Earth didn't one of those BCS conference teams offer this guy a scholarship? You'd think some crappy BCS teams like Washington State, Virginia, Rutgers, or Indiana would have wanted a 7th-rd value at RB, wouldn't you? yet those schools didn't offer him a scholarship. Only Washington and Oregon State showed any interest and NEITHER offered a scholarship. Maybe that Jacquizz Rodgers guy would have been an better 3rd down back for the Packers.
In the open field he is very "Adrian Peteson" like. Cuts and jukes while still moving forward. Seems to have really good vision but I need to see more from him in traffic at the line. At this point it's a win for the Packers because they got it done without Grant and Starks now has some playing time why not take a shot with this guy. If he doesn't work out you still have other options.
About Rodgers being over rated...that is definitly the dumbest shit i ever heard. If anything hes under rated. Rodgers is eaisly the best qb in the league. Rodgers doesnt even need a running game, he'll still win...against the best d in the leage......oh yea and the defensive mvp happens to be a db on that team....Rodgers can pass just as good as brady or manning with waaay better mobility. Best receiving core in the nfl? Probably but they didnt look like i post season....SO MANY KEY DROPS!!!
Tom Brady is overrated and you being a Pats fan should know more than anyone that level of competiton is a stupid way of gauging talent. He's no Danny Woodhead like you guys get all excited about but maybe he'll do. Chadron St vs Hawaii? You want to talk about competition> get a clue. Tom Brady has a pocket you could drive an 18 wheel semi through. When he doesn;t he looks very less than ordinary. BTW, Red Sox suck too!!!
@patsfan8012 how is Aaron Rodgers overated? he played top of the league this year. It is true that he had help, being that he had a set of the best recievers in the league but he always got the ball to them perfectly. And he is good under pressure. Something the other "elite" QB's fail at.
the holes he's running through you literally could drive a ford focus through so the credit should really go to the line not him. sorry packers he's not that good and you'll see that in the NFL
@patsfan8012 yeah, I noticed the holes too. But he won't sniff a season snap anytime soon. And 6 years and counting since NE won a superbowl. BRADY 2-3 SINCE SPYGATE!!
@patsfan8012 it's not only the offensive line, it's the offense. The 4 wides run out the LB's and DB's, they have their backs to the line, by then they forgot that there is a running game to be careful of. Any offense that can pass well, will benefit from having a Back that can run and receive. I think GB just got better.
Green will go well with Grant, Kuhn, and Starks. sounds like some good combos but they'll probably have to drop one of them. But welcome to the Pack Alex Green.
From the very first play I viewed in this video, I nearly broke down in tears of joy saying "finally, finally we have someone who can either back up Grant, or snatch his place!". Now, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Grant remain our starter; however, shall Grant start having a particularly bad season due to his injury from 2010, Id love to see Alex Green step in. Not James Starks (though i love this kid), and certainly not that damn worthless ass Brandon Jackson. Fucking slow-mo running tank
He looks like he can turn out to play really well in Green Bay. But can they also get that speed demon who just annihilated that guy at 3:37? Who is that guy?
I've always drooled over Stephen Jackson and dreamed of him being on the packers. Green reminds me very much of him. I'm very excited. I'm also happy that he won't have a ton of pressure on him. Green will be just another weapon in a multi-headed running back pack attack. :)
very good athletically. He just needs to learn to understand how plays old out and which lanes to take. There are lots of areas in some of these runs where he easily could have gone the distance but just ran right into the DBs. MM will work with him and make him into a gem so I'm not too worried. PACK4LIFE
Also, I was hoping the pack would take Leshoure.. they had the chance.. but after seeing Green's capabilities I am more than pleased with the way the draft has gone. Repeat!
Reminds me of Steven Jackson, and not just because of his dreads haha.. he is a strong upright runner and will do a lot of damage for the Pack.. Cant wait for the Repeat this year!!! Oh yeah I sound like a Cowgirls fan now dont I? Already assuming they are going to the promised land lol
@D1Champ08 I've heard someone say once... you can never have enough horses in the barn. OR, was that, hot rods in the garage? Either way, I think, Alex Green will be better than Grant or Starks, and can play every down, if needed.
why pack...? james ironman starks been looking good, plus the return of ryan grant... just dont see this panning out, randall cobb will be alright in the return game, but seriously, how bout a d-lineman
For you guys who are razzing me about Ryan Grant being so good. Well, according to this articles on Bleacher Report, Ryan Grant may have played his last game, and it gives 10 reasons why...
bleacherreport . com /articles/609390-nfl-trade-rumors-10-reasons-ryan-grant-has-played-his-last-game-with-packers
And, Randal Cobb and Alex Green aren't even one of the 10 reasons given.
... so turn off the testosterone and use your brains instead...
While it's easy to see that Green benifitted from the spread offense and a gaping hole to run through, the kid has some moves, speed, and looks eager to take on tacklers. I really like the idea of Green and Starks as a one-two punch. I suspect we"ll drop Dimitri Nance to make room for him. I love offensive weapons though. First Cobb, then Green, can't wait for pre-season. Go Pack Go!
being a packers fan, im looking at some highlights of this guy...i gotta say..these highlights werent the greatest to feature. on most of these plays, theres not a defensive player within 20 yards of him when he gets the ball. I could probably have picked up 10 yds on these plays haha..but anyway, i like him. he looks like a beast! packers need a RB like that..reminds me of marshawn lynch from the little ive seen so far...GO PACK GO!
Dude is a beast. Unreal size/speed/strength combo back that can also catch the ball. With Derek Sherrod, Randall Cobb and now Alex Green, the Packer offense just got even scarier. Let's get this lockout done with and start the season tomorrow.
For real. Grant's career average is 4.5 a carry. That's pretty excellent for whatever system you're in, but considering who our quarterback is and the style of offense we run, it's exceptional. Alex Green is B. Jax's replacement.
@CongratuationsFelix Grant's career average is 4.4 per carry, and that is tied with 6 other RBs for 21st among active running backs... big deal. Because he didn't run much, that made it possible for him to even get 4.4 per carry.
Adrian Peterson had a 4.8 yds per carry, and everyone knew he was going to run the ball. I'm hoping Alex Green gives the Pack that needed RB they've been missing.
Quit hating on dude because he played for hawaii. He's in the NFL! Big ups to you Alex Green. He"ll do some damage.

@GetDatSteak I don't mean to take away from him at all. I'm only voicing concerns that he played in a bit of a lax conference that wasn't the best to prepare him for NFL level defenses. He can get better, my only worry is that he won't prepare and gets overmatched by more athletic or at least more prepared football players, but I agree that he has the tools to become a great running back and it's up to him to work to the goal of becoming an NFL caliber back, which i don't think he is right now.
pscoggs 9 months ago
@pscoggs .well right now no. but in a year or so id say he starts no problem.
GetDatSteak 9 months ago
@GetDatSteak I agree. And just for the record I do think this guy will make the jump to NFL and be a great back for us.
pscoggs 9 months ago
@pscoggs Tell that to WAC RB LaDanien Tomlinson.
wisdaniel 9 months ago
@wisdaniel I'm not doubting the ability of the players in the conference because every division and conference has NFL caliber players. But the WAC as a conference does not draw the same caliber players other conferences do, so the stratification of these NFL level players are much more dispersed through the teams. This makes the conference weaker as a whole, regardless of who came from it. The WAC simply has fewer chances to acquire impact players like teams in the more powerful conferences.

To be fair, his o-line was giving him holes big enough for a train, still great vision on a lot of those runs..... he is a Stephen Jackson remix, and not just because of the dreds

This is a great addition to Green Bay's running attack. Yo 4:46 is crazy
smiley4284 9 months ago
what a 3 headed running attack. Grant, Starks, Green. Running game here we come
Benji411 9 months ago
The future of the running game in GB will consist of Starks, Green, Kuhn. Starks is a quick downhill runner who has obvious talent and speed, Green and Kuhn are big time bruisers.
We don't need anymore than 70 yards a game from these guys, but trust me they'll give us 100 and more.
SunMadeBlack 9 months ago
@SunMadeBlack Do you think Grant will stay a couple more years?
waterbottle1001001 9 months ago
@waterbottle1001001 isn't grant only under contract for one more year? If I am correct I would assume they let him go in 2012. Of course if Starks can't stay healthy I think he would be resigned.
RMarsh023 9 months ago
@waterbottle1001001
I'll just say I view him as on the way out, who knows whether or not he'll be the primary running back this year. The way Starks ran the ball you'd have to believe he's every bit as good as Grant was pre-injury.
SunMadeBlack 9 months ago
The Packers offense just got a lot better with Randall Cobb and Alex Green . I feel sorry for the rest of the leagues defenses because with the return of Finley and the added fire power through the draft the Packers are going to be unstoppable on offense . Aaron Rodgers MVP and Superbowl MVP AGAIN .
Dsol7 9 months ago
Are you guys seriously saying that 4.4 yards per carry isn't good ? there are tons of HB's in the NFL who wish they could pick up that kind of yardage on a play by play basis and while he isn't Adrian Peterson Ryan Grant doesn't have to be as the Packers are a passing team who with a full stable of running backs this year with Starks , Grant , Kuhn and Green will be a nightmare for defenses and add that to the addition of Randall Cobb at WR/KR and the return of Finley and the Pack cant be stoped
Dsol7 9 months ago
This guy's highlights are all against WAC teams like Utah State and NMSU. Big whoop. I don't see any highlights of him when Hawaii played Notre Dame or USC. Wonder why? Congrats, you beat up on the JV. This dude ain't ready for the show by a mile. Those breakaway speed clips weren't like he was putting distance between himself and the defenders, either. Pathetic pick. Could have taken that UGA guard, then gotten a 3rd down back of a higher caliber later, Ted. (BTW I am a Packer fan)
rkwittem 9 months ago
@rkwittem hater.
808burgers 9 months ago
@rkwittem First off Alex wasn't with Hawaii when they played Notre Dame in 2008. Secondly, he was tearing USC up when Hawaii played USC. If Hawaii wasn't down by a lot and passing just to keep up, then Alex could of got more opportunities to gash USC. Learn some facts dude before you talk big.
cruman87 9 months ago
@cruman87 Why don't you learn some facts? The guy is dominating the WAC. How many of the top RB's in the class would have done that or better? (Imagine Ingram or LeShoure or Todman or DeMarco Murray playing WAC garbage every Saturday. They'd all look like studs, wouldn't they? Except they went up against the best of the best and got a chance to play against guys that may actually sniff the next level, unlike these WAC hacks.
rkwittem 9 months ago
@rkwittem Yes he played in the WAC, that is a fact. A fact that I did not deny. You on the other hand brought up false information. Thats what I have a problem with. Now back to Alex Green in the WAC. So what that he played in the WAC. Ahmad Bradshaw, Chris Johnson and Matt Forte played in the C-USA, James Starks and Michael Turner played in the MAC, and the great LaDainian Tomlinson played in the WAC. The point is, just cause you played in BCS conferences doesn't mean you're a better player.
cruman87 9 months ago 2
@cruman87EXACTLY some people just sip the BCS kool-aid an believe all the best players are in those conferences an all Non BCS school athletes cant hold a candle to their athletes when we have guys like Jamarcuss russel, Ryan Leaf getting drafted in the 1st round an bust out. While guys like Joe Flacco from 1-aa end up playing will an have a good thing going while he played in a d-2 league. It doesnt matter what league you play in if you got "IT" YOU GOT "IT"
Kram808 9 months ago
@cruman87 Then why on Earth didn't one of those BCS conference teams offer this guy a scholarship? You'd think some crappy BCS teams like Washington State, Virginia, Rutgers, or Indiana would have wanted a 7th-rd value at RB, wouldn't you? yet those schools didn't offer him a scholarship. Only Washington and Oregon State showed any interest and NEITHER offered a scholarship. Maybe that Jacquizz Rodgers guy would have been an better 3rd down back for the Packers.

bryansensei 9 months ago
In the open field he is very "Adrian Peteson" like. Cuts and jukes while still moving forward. Seems to have really good vision but I need to see more from him in traffic at the line. At this point it's a win for the Packers because they got it done without Grant and Starks now has some playing time why not take a shot with this guy. If he doesn't work out you still have other options.
squirrley76 9 months ago

BTW, Red Sox suck too!!!
danfellows68 9 months ago
plus the level of competition is bad and by the way aaron rodgers is overated
patsfan8012 9 months ago
@patsfan8012 Overrated just won the superbowl
steve7545 9 months ago
@patsfan8012 how is Aaron Rodgers overated? he played top of the league this year. It is true that he had help, being that he had a set of the best recievers in the league but he always got the ball to them perfectly. And he is good under pressure. Something the other "elite" QB's fail at.
TheJacobsProductions 9 months ago
the holes he's running through you literally could drive a ford focus through so the credit should really go to the line not him. sorry packers he's not that good and you'll see that in the NFL
patsfan8012 9 months ago
@patsfan8012 yeah, I noticed the holes too. But he won't sniff a season snap anytime soon. And 6 years and counting since NE won a superbowl. BRADY 2-3 SINCE SPYGATE!!
Bloodychess2 9 months ago
@patsfan8012 it's not only the offensive line, it's the offense. The 4 wides run out the LB's and DB's, they have their backs to the line, by then they forgot that there is a running game to be careful of. Any offense that can pass well, will benefit from having a Back that can run and receive. I think GB just got better.

I've always drooled over Stephen Jackson and dreamed of him being on the packers. Green reminds me very much of him. I'm very excited. I'm also happy that he won't have a ton of pressure on him. Green will be just another weapon in a multi-headed running back pack attack. :)

spinasweetness 9 months ago
very good athletically. He just needs to learn to understand how plays old out and which lanes to take. There are lots of areas in some of these runs where he easily could have gone the distance but just ran right into the DBs. MM will work with him and make him into a gem so I'm not too worried. @D1Champ08 I've heard someone say once... you can never have enough horses in the barn. OR, was that, hot rods in the garage? Either way, I think, Alex Green will be better than Grant or Starks, and can play every down, if needed.

Welcome To GB!!!! Excited to see this explosive three back set.
snafuaru2 10 months ago
While it's easy to see that Green benifitted from the spread offense and a gaping hole to run through, the kid has some moves, speed, and looks eager to take on tacklers. I really like the idea of Green and Starks as a one-two punch. I suspect we"ll drop Dimitri Nance to make room for him. I love offensive weapons though. First Cobb, then Green, can't wait for pre-season. Go Pack Go!
GBPackerfan75 10 months ago
being a packers fan, im looking at some highlights of this guy...i gotta say..these highlights werent the greatest to feature. on most of these plays, theres not a defensive player within 20 yards of him when he gets the ball. I could probably have picked up 10 yds on these plays haha..but anyway, i like him. he looks like a beast! packers need a RB like that..reminds me of marshawn lynch from the little ive seen so far...GO PACK GO!

The second explosive A Green rb for the Pack. A Green II
brdsmp 10 months ago
For real. Grant's career average is 4.5 a carry. That's pretty excellent for whatever system you're in, but considering who our quarterback is and the style of offense we run, it's exceptional. Alex Green is B. Jax's replacement.
CongratuationsFelix 10 months ago
@CongratuationsFelix Grant's career average is 4.4 per carry, and that is tied with 6 other RBs for 21st among active running backs... big deal. Because he didn't run much, that made it possible for him to even get 4.4 per carry.
Adrian Peterson had a 4.8 yds per carry, and everyone knew he was going to run the ball. I'm hoping Alex Green gives the Pack that needed RB they've been missing.
