the climber wasted a lot of effort by taking the pieces in 2 or three cuts when they easily could have been take in 1. He alos one hands on a high cut which was very dangerous... one handing may be acceptable in certain situations, but not when you are waving the saw over your head like a flag..
cant decide whether you guys are inspired or nufties, PPE? wheres the consideration for poor mister groundie if the midpoint tie in on those blocks slips out? would it hurt to run the tag line on the block itsself not the pulley you would have better control to stop the swing back at the climber.otherwise you got balls and guts to do a good job in difficult position with out a crane being employed. Nice one!
that could have been a good cantidate for a zip line while taking down the top imho. I like that rigging set up for the trunk but couldn't you have used a block with a tag line on the chunks to pull them out and away? nice clean removal though! good to see others doing the work that carefully.
haha nice. i like the part at the end with the lens cover. and nice usage of the porty wrapper. modern arborist techniques are 40% what you were taught and 60% your own creativity. good job boys.
Been there Done that. Good job. Hard to tell from the vid but saw sounded like mine a 038 super. Our first loader was a case w4 which is very versatile. Loved watching someone else that knows what they are doing work while I sat here drinking coffe for a change.
I love when people come out of their house and and ask....trying to sound smart... "soo how much danger pay do you guys get"....we stop look at each other... blink a few times... and reply "whats danger pay" lol
nice! one handing the saw!! you'll sound like such a hero when you tell the story of how you stopped a bucking chainsaw with your face!! play safe champ
Good over all, but teach your ground man how to thread the port-a-wrap correctly, you could completely loose your friction the way its wrapped at 1:46.
improvise adapt and overcome! i'm not sure about thinking on getting the big wood down but it worked and u got the money! ###1 order of business. get the money good job
VERY nice job, boys!! Great use of rigging! Until people see what we do, they don't really understand, do they? Looks like it was pretty cold that day too. Again; nice job! Great team-work!!
Oh crap that was amazing! Loved the rigging and especially the professionalism/smoothness that the whole operation was handled with. Sucks to be out in the cold I bet! Great from start to finish.
Hey Fortner & Sons - you are the true arborists that make all the rest of us arborists look good also - watched the whole video and I thought I was simply SMOOTH from start to finish - absolutely flawless - great job - Steve, from Timber Top Tree Service - Owner/ Operator - Columbus, Oh USA - I gotta get me one of those bobcat crawlers/ looks like it takes the stress outta lifting heavy wood - great job guys !!!!
good job, unique rigging, always sucks when u havent any room to let the rope run...can do nothing but hold on to the bull to try not to get buckd off! haha. impressive.
I tip my saws to you sir and the good cutting you did,, Every now and again you havea bad shot but you kept it in check and did not miss a beat..So good work keep cutting safe..
Why not use a telehandler/reachlift/skytrack to hold/set down the peices as they're cut instead of messing with rigging and having them do the happy dance on the line?
I was only scared at 2:43 when you threw the saw. Very nice work. I bet you guys slept good that night. Hard work right there. What size was the big Stihl?
o_o......A TREE

Working a portawrap from the roof, looked fun, but miserable cold. Big tree in a bad spot.

The rope is threaded into the port-a-wrap in a strange way... do you find that works best, or do you just not know the correct way?
station888 2 years ago 2
Good eyes-That is incorrect way to thread. Should have taken the bight and run it through the upper loop and under the peg.
