  • I'm so glad that you stood up for that boy. because of you, he'll know that he does matter and he shouldn't let the bullies get to him, he can live. Japan is a great country, but there are a lot of social issues that aren't being fixed or changed because of tradition, it's sad. but as it's been said, if you want something you have to go get it-that includes change, too.

  • it's not a cultural thing.. japanese people are very family oriented

  • thats a weird looking cotton field

  • @Peakiness lol i know right.maybe if you get back to your own, you'd feel more at home;-)

  • wow, what a powerful woman!go girl! ;-p

  • I love $5 shoes, they are the best : )

  • And wow. I really like how all of these ass hole trolls come on here to diss different ethnicities. You are all bullys. And are completely avoiding the message of this video. Ignoramus jackasses. For real. No country is better than any other one.

  • @ArtBeautyandMegan No, i'm pretty sure Japan and America are better than some third-world war-torn country.

  • @Satsaru That fact that you use the out dated term "third world" makes me believe you dont see the beauty in different cultures and lifestyles. War torn? Are we not in a war? maybe it isn't on our land and yes it would be really horrible to have one on our lands and the destruction and heart ache would be horrendous. Look around though. We have starving homeless people all over our streets and debt is rampant. We definitely arent all we claim to be.

  • @ArtBeautyandMegan The fact that you think 'third world' countries don't still exist makes me believe you're out of touch with the reality of the fact. There are still a fair many nations that are ravaged by rebellions, poverty and civil war, primarily in Africa though.

True there are many homeless in America now. Many if not most countries are going into debt too. I simply a FACT that America/Japan are not the worst off. Get over yourself. I said nothing about culture.

  • @Satsaru You are really taking this to a whole new level now. I need to get over myself? what did I say that mentions myself? wow youre ignorant. I simply stated that "no country is better than another" and you took that as "no country is better off than another" Very very ridiculous. I am not talking about weath. Originally I was talking about culture so the fact you arent and replied to me is very stupid. Good job.

  • @ArtBeautyandMegan I'm afraid it's you who took me out of context, as I was never talking about culture in the first place. That's entirely subjective. Then again, neither of us really specified in our first post. If you did in earlier post, sorry, I didn't read them. At any rate, this discussion is way off the topic of this video so we should probably stop flooding the comment section with our nonsense lol.

  • @ArtBeautyandMegan And yes I agree we should probably stop spamming lol. and neither one of use specified as you said so thanks for the irrelevant conversation. It was interesting to say the least :)

  • @Satsaru By the way. I wasn't saying 'Third world' countries do not exist. I was meaning that isnt a pollitically correct term anymore. It implies that they are a lower form people. Which is why anthropologists tend to not use that terminology anymore. Yes there is genocide, mass poverty in every country, pastoral economies, hunter gatherer tribes still. But I wouldnt like to call these 'Third World Countries' as third world actually means "non allied" and nuetral countries. Arose during WWII

  • I really like this video! bullying is a huge problem across the world. Like you said I used to be bullied and made fun of constantly, mostly in elementary and middle school. I was seen as the ugly agnostic pizza faced poor girl. But also like you said. Look at me now! all those people taht try to bring you down and act like theyre so cool end up being the ugly misfit nobodys later on in life. And the victims grow to be strong beautiful individuals with so many opportunities. I love karm

  • your right...i live in japan as a white male so im probably not as oppressed by the japanese as you are, but i know how they are and i feel your passion..

  • @microdork80 white male or black women. You're still a gaijin. Regardless.

  • I love your perspective and totally agree with you. I've been bullied off and on and i hate that people think they have that sort of power over people.

  • like

  • USA has too many bullies, eiher, racist.

  • your amazing and your vids are awesome. thank you for sharing your wisedom :)

  • Lady you are the bomb. You said it! I love unique and passionate people like you. :3

  • @jp0kamikaze0 shut the fuck up y the hell u had to bring her race into this u dumb ass bitch im mix with japanese and korean I have nothing against black people or any kind of race...so shut up!!!

  • hm...I use to live in Japan and my insight about this isn't shocking! Me and my best friend Asuma would always watch people get hurt at school......and ever since i've been gone, Asuma has been giving me some things and showing me clips of fights that are so sad. I would never get picked on except for the fact that I am like fully white and I'm japanese. But you, pretty teacher, are a good person. Please keep doing what you do now.

  • amethyst personality

  • there is a black dot on my screen

  • @lunamiz101 It's called a culture shock. Don't let the shock differ you from teaching there. Japan is still an amazing place, but where there are people, good and bad things will happen.

  • Lady you are the boss!

  • She's pretty. and smart. And cool.

  • your message is great and i wish i had seen this video earlier

  • I love this chic! So pretty AND has a beautiful personality. You go girl! Tell those kids to straighten up!

  • hi, i hope ya read this. I'm currently learning japanese and by "fate" i clicked this and learned about the JET program after watching this. I have been thinking about it and I think I want to do it. I have family in japan but I've never been there. So as a person of interest is it enjoyable.

    ありがとうございます。

  • don't let people steal your sunshine! smart :)

  • SPEAK FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE GETTING BULLIED WOO THANKS XD

  • omg, you make japan sound soo... different. It does sound very different. I'm thinking about teaching english at Japan, but that's going to be in 7 years from now. I'm not sure If I still want to go to japan, though there are some pros and cons. But bullying is wrong, violence is wrong. That's just wrong how those Japanese people handle the problem the way you say it. That's just unbelievable, I don't even understand why that teacher and those students would do that. Like wth??

  • I love the ending part. When you read this and go on with your life, just to brighten up your day a little more, you have inspired and motivated me to not let ANYONE steal my happiness. My moment. My purpose. Thanks for posting this uplifting video.

    BTW: You are beautiful :)

  • you have such great insight :)

I was bullied for the same reasons (though I am not JET) I would get bibles thrown at me and i felt like I had no voice at all (this was in middle school, years ago) I applaud you for standing up for what is right!

  • From 7:30 on...Beutifully said! Maintain your sunshine!

  • awww you seem so sweet!

  • @DTH10 .....

  • @DTH10 o_O im japanese.............

  • @DTH10 lol...watch it retard, you americans are way too cocky.

  • @intro2the1 You are one of the most beautiful women i have ever seen. oovoo one day? and where are you even from?

  • I really like your insight on things here.. i am also a JET( I'm also black) and I know culture is unique and should be , but there are two many things here that don't make sense..and things that will never be addressed because of the culture... Japan is developed economically but it has a far way to go to go when it comes to other areas. Wrong is wrong..it has nothing to do with culture, it is identifiable by every single human being.. ganbatte....

  • @Kingstonjapan Thank you for the smart commet T^T (Tears of joy) Their are people somewhere out there that UNDERSTAND these racist things that people think!

  • @magiksity Learn how to spell, and NOT ALL JAPANESE ARE RACIST!!! Don't judge, and why the heck did you say leave Japan when you called her "niggarz"? Racist much?

  • @iiYumCola Fuck off with multi culti bullshit really

  • @magiksity Oh, wow. How nice are you? -___-

  • omg im in love with you i think your soo beautiful, and your soo smart

  • You're hot.

  • YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

  • come to america, a lot of kids a commit suicide in the us due to bullying lately

  • @holypaladinpewpew and you kiss your mother with that mouth.

Go back to your bridge troll.

  • @workatthefarm

You're a funny guy, thanks for the laugh bro

  • woah I never had anything like that in my schools(in japan). i mean there was bullying, but the teachers-especially mine- would definitely discipline the students doing the bullying. like ones there was this whole hour long thing with the teacher almost going into tears, talking to the class about the bullying problem. maybe I just had a really great teacher

  • Made my day. Thank you.

  • thank u for those words of wisdom ^_^ i'll start thinking like that ^_^

  • @Tenki09 japan doesnt like your racist cracker ass

  • @xCleverlyx

Japan doesnt like racist , Japan is racist.

  • bully is a problem everywhere, and in some parts of the world to problem is how to create a lunch out of a rock

  • you are the truth!!! :D

  • you are so awesome! i haven't really been bullied that much but wow, i think that this is what people who are bullied need to hear. i hope this is a source of encouragement to those who are picked on and harassed.

  • Such a strong video!!

  • You're really pretty <3

  • Also this whole video was so encouraging. I used to get bullied by this girl who didn't even go to my school. We had met a couple of times, she was friends with cousin, but we barely knew each other which was why I didn't understand why she hated me so much. She used to comment on my pictures on Facebook with hate messages and she was just so mean, but she leaves me alone now because I didn't let get to me and I had so many people stick up for me. So thank you for making this video :)

  • i'd hit...

  • what you said towards the end made me really smile. I was never severely bullied but i got it here and there and sometimes at school i feel under pressure to fit the mold, and let me tell you, i really don't, but even here in England there's bulling and at my school i know behind closed doors its really bad. It's something that needs to be addressed more often...

  • I use to get bullied as well. But never got beat up. or had anything thrown at me. But I know what you mean. I think people should try to stand up for themselves and one another.

  • Bullying is universal especially in schools. Japanese Highschool is a stressful place because of their past culture, and in high school they study basic undergraduate subjects. Of course that is not an excuse, but I don't see the outrage.

BTW which U.S did you live in? Bullying, violence, and others insane stuff also do happen in the U.S. in fact it happened to me in middle school, well until the day I say screw a clean record and beat up of few bullies and got suspended a few days.

  • Yeah, in Japan they're really close to their teacher, When my sister school came from nagasaki, it was really different for me to see the students tell their teachers about their problems, like you know maybe they're heartbroken, or they like someone. it was really strange to see them so close to their teacher. But I think thats how it goes in Japan.

  • Your words were so very encouraging, thank you for that. :) I hope that you didn't face any problems with your coworkers because you did stand up for that student, but I am so glad that you did. Best of wishes to you, wherever you are now. ^^

  • Your awesome! =D

    hehe that made my day.

  • @workatthefarm

you my friend, are a piece of fucking shit

  • @workatthefarm what the heck dude

  • @chichikitty527 Yes.

  • @workatthefarm Dear peace of shit, please kill yourself. We'd be better off, and won't miss you.

    -The World

  • @TheDfdivino The majority of the world does not give a shit about black people.

    This is the truth.

  • @workatthefarm

    GTFO you fucking redneck

  • @WAnNAb3PAndAB3ArS I am from Scotland, not the US.

  • @workatthefarm not all rednecks come from the US

  • @WAnNAb3PAndAB3ArS Yes they do.

    Redneck is an American slang.

  • @workatthefarm No they don't, that's stupid. Other places with a high concentration of rednecks apart from the Southern Us are Alberta, Canada or rural Australia.

  • @workatthefarm just because its american slang, it doesnt mean its only used to describe a type of american

  • @WAnNAb3PAndAB3ArS Oh lord how stupid American can be.

Yes, it only refers to Americans; no one else.

You are a typical mongoloid, degenerate and illiterate little American.

  • @workatthefarm ok whatever

have a nice afterlife in hell

  • This was such a beautiful speech :) I loved it omg I need to watch more of your videos! lol

  • Thank you, thank you so much.

  • I know this video is a bit old but let me just tell you, I'm so glad that I was blessed to run into this vlog. I was so happy to watch it, thanks for covering a subject that is an epidemic all around the world. You're so positive you've got a good message and god bless you.

  • Its weird, because I know this is true now, but Japanese people are regarded to be the most sincere.

The other day I saw the most polite Japanese lady ever, but I think this only works for the older generation.

  • @Qpillowcase It's all stereotypes. I mean here in England people think we're polite, speak queens English and drink lots of tea.

I've never been to Japan but I can bet that the majority of people aren't racist. Maybe ignorant (e.g. staring at black man in street), but not racist. There are extreme right wing wackos everywhere.

  • not to sound racist but i WISH there were more black people like this girl around where i live...a normal human being. almost all the black people that live around me act like ghetto, gangster thug wanna-be's . . .

  • @Moman893 I'm black and I'm not offended by what you just said. I think a lot of blacks are offended by those who act the "ghetto" bullshit role. I know I am. I can go on forever about it . If you want a good laugh, watch "Uncle beats nephew for thuggin on facebook."

  • @lilblakkat but i mean its not only black people that act like that, there are plenty of whites, hispanics etc. that have that image too, unfortunately in my own personal experiances i just know an overwelming amount of black people who act so insanely stereotypical. and if i say anything to them then they assume im telling them to act "white". black people around where i live give their own people such a bad name..thankfully i know better to not be a racist moron

  • @Moman893 My family lived in a small town in the sticks. We were the only blacks there. It was a bitch. When we moved to a town w/blacks they teased my brother 4 not talking or acting "black" constantly in High school. He was a real smart guy. He stayed true to himself, graduated, joined got his Bachelors degree. My bro was driving his BMW the next time he ran into those black assholes. Ha! they weren't doing so well. People like that r such a joke.

  • you're cute ^-^'' Sweden

  • pick a target, whoop its ass... no one going to say shit to you anymore... School I went to was mostly italian in NY... some guido whores tried to bully me and a teacher asked, are you just going to take it? I said "I dont give a flying fuck what these whores are saying, they mean nothing to me." Never heard a word out of their corner again.... you should of seen the expressions of their faces...

  • Love your video message 'Miss Sunshine'!

  • she so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she doesnt have the darkest skin so stop bieng a ぴ似非臆さ

  • what i said then i was only joking i am black myself :) friends?

  • people mistake you for a pile of shit :(

  • its cause your face is black :(

  • you live on a military base in japan? i do.

  • ur a cutie,sorry had to say

    i'm listening..

    all the best to you

  • Your words just brought a smile to my face :) Thank you! I won't let anyone take my sunshine away..

  • Very inspiring I'm going to have my 11 yr old son watch this video, because he is small and smart too. He also runs into problems with bigger kids wanted to taunt him because of his size.

  • Omg! You're so amazing! I love you~! Lol

  • @hESSLO1 I think it depends where you live and also Japan Schoools tends to keep quiet about bullying and suicides.

  • @hESSLO1

where light is, there also have to be shadow

  • @hESSLO1 she's not lying... where there is sin there is going to bullying... why would she lie about that...?

  • i think you should make a club of yours anti-bulling club

    "anti-bulling club sunshine "

  • You are an inspiration mama. Most of these ignorant hillbillies with their racist comments, probably have never even left their backyards. Respect a true woman of the world with a greater perspective of how people live globally. The haters should listen and learn.

  • True

  • <3

  • your sunshine speech was touching you just seem like a great person, with a great outlook on life you are a tall glass of wonderfull stay up =)

  • omg this is kinda scary... D: how old where those students?

  • peace and love

  • Some of what I heard about Japan on this video really opened my eyes.I knew about some of the parallels of Japanese and American society. The cultural awareness, the sheer dedication of being a symbol of respect in the eyes of your family and friends. But, that Miscarriage Club, those kids need a hug. Thanks for speaking on this subject so passionately.

  • Like Gokusen! :D

i thought it was just a show.

  • "rob a vending machine" I'd love to see you try! haha

  • thank you....:)

  • thank you.........:)

  • You are a great teacher. First I thought you were a student!

  • oh yesss. I've been practicing not caring about peoples' rumors about me but it doesn't really work at all. lol. i was literally born to get my feelings hurt easily. it's really hard to control myself and not cry or get angry everytime someone says something bad about me behind my back or even to my face

  • You're a good motivator, lol

  • You are SO amazing! Whoever your friends are, Im totally envious of them right now! Lol :D Let the haters hate, they won't take our sunshine away! Peace, from Kobe.

  • I love everything that you've said. This is wonderful. It's horrible that things like this happen but it's nice to see someone talking about it.

  • I will never let someone still my sunshine(:

  • Thank you for saying it like it is...thank you...

  • We think exactly alike. And I think its so interesting that you live in Japan, face that, and correct that. You are awesome. Were you always interested in living there? or was it a spark or?

  • Way to go there young lady! I too work in the educational system in Japan and have noticed the vast amount of いじめ (teasing and bullying) in this country. If you are still in Japan teaching, may God continue to bless you and use you mightily. 頑張って!!GANBATTE!!

  • AMEN SISTER! SAY IT!

  • you are amazing, keep bringing your sunshine to those in need :)

  • i used to get bullied in school, ive beat up and one the verge of suicide so many times because im shy, fat, and taller than most people, than i realized i was bigger than the people bulleing me so i started kicking their ass XD

  • @morrius07 yeaaah~! XDD hahahah

  • @morrius07 Are you Casey the punisher?? :O

  • glad you did what you did!

  • good cheer up sunshine

  • every time a black person is trying to express themselves leave it to a racist white person not people that got nothing better to do but to be a productive member to society to comment like a white racist person does..so predictable ...the girl has something to share with us..lets tell her our opinions not stray away to a useless argument...man i wish to go to japan as well despite the tsunami attacks

  • @ferrymehome

you cant stop the retards from wanting attention.

  • I seriously wish i knew you. This is inspiring.

  • @madiboyd95 i agree!

  • You are truly an inspiration :)

  • Chica, your totally awesome : )

  • you are so right!! hatters gonna hate.

  • I didn't watch the video but im assuming its about bullying in japanese schools. if i was in a japanese school and a kid was getting stupid on me i would get a sheet of paper and write down two dates: August 6, 1945 and August 9th, 1945 then slide it to his happy ass.
