@JrSAR101 Hmmm... is that a law or advise? I normally used to keep at least a tire width in the #1 lane so cars didn't try to pass on the right... since they might think I'm turning left. Is that what you're talking about? That is good advise. Well, I'm retired, now. I'll leave it to you to spread the word :-)
@TurtleSloth it's advise, only have a tire width in the middle turning lane to warn people ahead. but if there's a small car behind a big truck and goes to the middle lane to turn there's a head on waiting to happen. almost happened to my dad driving our rescue truck for a MVA, luckly he wasnt in the middle lane like you guys were. but hey i'm just saying, not saying you are wrong and what not. my dad is the driving instructor for our area and that is what he tells everone here
@JrSAR101 I'm glad there are people like your Dad out there. We aren't invincible and neither are the other people on the road. Be safe out there, brother.
There are a lot of drivers who do not avoid it even if the emergency vehicle comes in Japan. Because the road is narrow. I'm sorry in strange English.
Mtn Mike's... yum! One of the better places in Riverbank. I don't live there or work there anymore, but it was fun screaming thru traffic. That's the best way to see Riverbank... second only to "in the rearview mirror" Ha! Keep serving the good stuff, my friend.
Hey I live here in Riverbank And The Fire Trucks From Stanislaus County Fire Almost all the time Hit a car By Obriens Supermarket On Patterson And Oakdale. But thats Pretty Cool..
I sometimes fear that these fire engine's might hit a civilian while on a code 3 response, so if i hear them coming i hit the lights and clear the intersection for them. Its much safer.
hahaha, I love the comments at 45 seconds! I rode along with a friend once and he was bitching people out to the point I was almost rolling on the floor of the fire truck.
I guess some people just go brain dead when there's an emergency vehicle behind them. When I was a deputy sometimes people would do that (pull left) when I was making a traffic stop. I just let them stop in the center turn lane, get out, walk up and the first thing I'd ask, "What are you supposed to do when there's an emergency vehicle behind you?" "Pull over to the right" they'd say. "So why are we here in the middle of the road then?" no answer Your "DA" comment hit the nail on the head.
lmao, this reminds me of the time I was riding with a buddy of mine, heading back across town to East Precinct, when we stopped a vehicle for speeding and swerving in his lane. When he topped 90 in a 60, we finally decided to stop him. The first thing he tried to do was pull to the left, but it was a concrete divider, so he took off his driver's side mirror. Turned out it was a DUI; girlfriend passed out on the passenger floor. Fun times man.
You know, I've noticed that as well. Sometimes they like to just stop in the middle of the travel lane and not do anything. Kinda makes you wonder what they put on the DMV tests.
hftfire....I would like you riding as my partner on a code 3 run.You tell it the way it is.... thats being responsible and professional. The last thing I want is an emergency services member strapped down on my cot because of the I THOUGHT I COULD attitude.
it still amazes me how many people do not know their right from left. The other day my partner got so pissed he started yelling at people over the PA.
I've seen and heard my EMS directer yell at people over the PA she gets very rude sometimes, and its funny to watch there response to getting yelled at
I especially like [NOT!] the RED LIGHT and LEFT hand turn ACROSS ALL TRAFFIC at the end of the clip! ...and the 'person' riding shot gun keeping his mouth shut by NOT stating, "CLEAR RIGHT!" when the driver operator NEEDS HIS EXTRA SET OF EYES TO CONFIRM SAME! From the dozens of comments from countless videos, you probably thought this was COOL! NOT!!!
God be with ALL my fellow brothers and sisters... as they find their way SAFELY to every incident in one peice... able to perform the job they risked the safety of all others getting there! To NOT push their luck as we discover it is so easy to do! 3w'sfirefighterclosecallsdotcom
Hey thanks! I really appreciate that... until we see hot, flaming stuff the blood pressure doesn't rise very much... yeah right... ha! It was all for the camera. Have a great day.
How long does AMR take to get to your medical aid calls over there Turtle ? I plan to work for AMR in San Mateo where their response time for Priority 1 calls within a zone is about 8 minutes max . A couple of years ago doing a ride along , we had a call on the SF side of Daly City , behind the Cow Palace . We were a South Zone unit and 1 of only 2 rigs available for calls . It took us just 17 minutes to get there from Redwood City !
AMR has an 8 minute response policy and they pretty much stick to it. We have rural areas, so it can be longer especially in the Summer. Good luck with the new job. You'll be busy.

Big no-no driving down the middle turning lane like that... you can stratle the line but never be completly in the center lane like that.
