Actually the tech that got lost was STC stuff, & the Adeptus Mechanicus designed the titans themselves & can actually replace them. The titans of Legio Metalica were almost wiped out at one point, but at full strength (albeit decades later) for the start of the 3rd war for Armageddon.

I like that, the imperial guard stronghold is probs one of the easiest to take, because I took the southern bit easy and this just owned everything, drove across the trench in seconds with my chaos marines in rhinos. Then it was curtains. Nice vid 5/5.

No they can't! This damn thing is/was the arm of an Imperial Titan. Titans are nearby the only machines with a real machine ghost and they are so rare and old that everything of them is more than important to the Adeptus Mechanicus.

The huge titan cannon (why do you call it "titan"? It's just the arm-cannon of an Imperator titan :P) can't be lifted or anything and a well, it's a nice deathtrap for the enemy army, it's weird that you can take control of it from the other side and the IG doesn't blow it up *until* you beat them. But since they could "tell the machine-spirit to self-destruct", why couldn't they just shut it down?
