  • What song is being played in this video?

  • I missed out on this comet in '07! Great video! I don't know how anyone could not like that footage!

  • This Comet will be visable again somewhere between the 15th of june 2010 and the 30th of june 2010 here in HOLLAND, AMSTERDAM. Thats what was said on the news today...

    Im looking forward to it...

  • @BeertjeJC Same here in Purmerend. l've been put up with loads of advertisement on my iPhone about it.

    Won't miss it either...

  • @BeertjeJC It's not the same comet though, the comet we'll be seeing this week is a different one, it just happens to also be named "Mcnaught" because it was discovered by an astronomer named mcnaught :P to differentiate it from the 2007 one, I think the one this week is called Mcnaught 2009 R1

  • can someone pls tell me some info on this comet...it's very interesting.

  • sounds like runescape music

  • I saw a flying object that looked like and moved like the Comet McNaught in your video but my friend told me it's a shooting star. I have not seen a comet before so I'm not sure how to differentiate the two. Any idea?

  • A comet lasts for a very long time, a shooting star (meteor) for a fraction of a second. This is time-lapse footage.

  • @TSIEWLING To expand on robotguy's comment, a "shooting star" or meteor is a piece of rock/metal that enters our planet's atmosphere and burns up, that is how you can see it. A comet is a much larger object with a nucleus made of rock surrounded by ice,it usually has a loose orbit around our sun. The Mcnaught comet thats visible this week however won't be visible again, it has what is called a hyperbolic orbit, where it hasn't "grasped" onto our sun to orbit, it will just go off into deep space

  • WOW, she's BRIGHT!! Nice video!

  • i remember taking my kids miles into the bush to see hale bopp and them telling it was lame but when they found out they would never get to see it again it was a different story

  • it will be so cool if it came crushing down on us and end humans lol.

  • Well, not this comet. It is on its way out of the solar system and will never return (hyperbolic orbit).

  • when did this comet come past and where was this shot as im like everyone else i never heard of it and i like this sort of stuff and usually follow it

  • Perihelion was on january 12 2007, and the comet was visible mostly in the southern hemisphere in january and february.

  • did you shoot this footage?as im in melbourne australia and missed it

  • This footage was shot by Vidar Martinsen of Norway (the comet was visible in the northern hemisphere for a few days). He also did the music. Click the More link beside the video for Vidar's website.

  • yup

  • umm, no it wouldn't...

  • lo ví desde el norte de Chile , fue estupendo, gracias por las imagenes

  • WTF! I didnt even know this comet was around. Nothing in the papers or on the news. Now its gone......forever....never to be seen by my eyes. Damned you Comet McNaught! Come back I say, COME BACK!!!!!!
