Was thinking of making one of these myself and using it as a false window for a basement room that doesn't get much like (maybe put some backlight on it to replicate sunlight).
@cids7777 Don't worry - we can make them with sound-absorbing translucent liner, for a hard-working durable shoji door unit that functions like a mini-movable wall. Natural room translucence is retained, yet private conversations can be held on either side of the sound-deadening shoji doors. Our acoustic shoji panels look identical to our standard shoji, retaining the pleasing translucency that shoji are noted for. This is one of the most popular upgrades we have available.
These designs are stunning.. do you have any methods to make these with some form of man-made material instead of ricepaper? I am building a house out of shipping containers, and having dividers with some form of built in insulation would be ideal (I live in Canada where the winters can get very cold, so being able to heat just the most used sections of the house would be awesome!)
@sh0 Yes, we have several synthetic, scrubbable choices with an 1/4" liner that would work for you, but I wonder if ventilation/condensation is going to be a problem if the area is closed up too tight?
Sounds like an interesting project; would love to hear more!
