From what I have read Alesi was offered Patrese's drive at Williams for 1991, but as we all know he took emotional option of driving for the Prancing Horse. It could be the biggest career mistake ever in the history of F1. He never fulfilled his potential and only one win in his entire career is desperately sad. Those Tyrrell's were fast though. Absolutely loving this, watching Mansell go faster and faster on those soft tyres with his smoking engine. The stuff of legend!! :-)
@Montreal95 Fair comment... Hindsight is a great thing and we can only ever wonder what would have been regarding a Mansell/Alesi pairing in 1991, 1992 and who knows what next. ATB :-)

@DAH210774 Not purely emotional. Ferrari were better than Williams in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
