I have the sog seal elite. It has literally saved my life more than once. After I decided 2 replace it with my ka-bar while deployed in iraq jus after the invasion of iraq (USMC) and I think its a great knife still have it and is now sharper than when first bought cuz I sharpend it should reconsider it

i've never seen a f1 for more than $150 (not including the 3g version) if you want a cheaper one or a non blackened one, go to "knivesship free dot com"

i was rooting for the nw ranger.......happy with the result. while i love my sheaths as well, the fact is, it's easier to get a new sheath for the knife than it is to get a new knife for a sheath. i prefer a customized kydex anyway that would be best suited for my needs so im not too worried about the sheath....though i would like the price to be a little lower but i guess you can't always have it all.

nice comparison. i dig the Ontario sp2. i love the looks the price and my friend has a leather handled ontario pilot survival knife that is similar to the sp2, and it is a great knife. i like the kraton handle on the sp2 better, so i think ill be asking for the sp2 for Christmas. looks of a beastly camping knife... great job dude

I bought my NW Ranger in 1994 and it still works great after all these years. The only knock on the knife along with other SOG Blades is I have found there factory grind to be rather dull from the box.  I also had a tough time getting an initial edge on the NW Ranger and Seal Pup Elite. Overall though, I like the knives. Of all my knives I would say my Fallkniven A2 is my favorite followed by my custom Pacific NW knive. Happy Thanksgiving and great video.

Best knife I have is my Finnish hunting knife given to me by a pal years ago. It's not a scandy grind but a traditional blade, wooden handle, steel finger guard and it has a fuller along the spine. Strange knife, but razor sharp and it holds an edge wonderfully. The shape is a bit odd, looks like a machete or something. You know much about Finnish knives man? I'll do you a video response if you want to identify it for me. I have always been curious of what the hell it is.

Very nicely done Adam. Will say though.... whats the deal with the pimp leather jacket? Not your normal attire...LOL! Great series. I am disappointed on that cold steel. Normally they have a great product. Looks like they need a new grind on that bad boy. I am also pleasantly surprised on the Fish Wolf. Hoping to possibly pick one up in the near future. @Damosmods Really depends on your location. The main thing for a DSK is water on your person and a shelter (tarp). (no trees to make a debris shelter) You can find water but its difficult. Remember your sun screen and chapstick. Also remember that you will want a fire. The temps drop drastically during the night and you can easily freeze. There are a lot of things in common from the desert and back east as far as skills go. The main diff would be abundance of natural material and the weather.

Adam, you'd be really great at teaching boy scouts and/or girl scouts in a survival techniques class. Your disposition and demeanor fits their age group well; you're young enough for them to relate to but old enough that the kids would respect your words/experience.

Just to be clear...you're good with us adults, also! But, your way of presentation is the type that young folks would look up to, I think. Cliff

man i would die for that f1 but i would have to go with the plastic sheath. i think the black coating is made more for tactical type people. putting an convex edge on the cold seal would be killer. doe a vid after you do that.

I do agree that 'out of the box' sharpness does matter and tells alot about the quality standards of the knife maker. But once you established which was sharpest 'out of box' don't you think then you should sharpen them all equally and test them?

I realize your showing 'out of the box' sharpness but i'd like to see more testing with them all sharpened equally.
