i love lavalamps but it sucks they all freaking breakdown, its a disaster. problem 1, lamp/bulb breaks and unable to find that same type anywere, problem 2. water color bleaches over time and wax tends to stick to the top. problem 3. well i only had this once, the metal ring at the bottom some wax lamps have got loose and started floating in the bottle -.- i bought over 10 lavalamps in my life and not 1 lasted for 1 year. the previous one i bought took only 4 weeks till it broke...
@TheToastPeople I got mine today. Mine seems very different. My wax is pure yellow and the blue doesnt't seem as light, it seems much darker and possibly cloudier. It hasn't even got close to warming up yet tho.
Did you buy this in 2008? I was just wondering, I just bought one online and am waiting for it to arrive. But they use different wax formulas than in the 60's-80's now and I was just wondering if this is still the new formula. It flows very nicely for a new one, very retro looking wax.
@upperlevelthegreat Yep been running every week since 2008, The mixture in yours should be the same as this, Be careful not to leave in direct sunlight this lava lamp has turned yellow now lol!
@zztop5911 try to find one of these for sale; search youtube for "amazing candle powered lava lamp" these are the ultimate for any collector since you can use them anywhere and warm up in 10 minutes; the display is much better than regular lava lamps as they are 16" tall and no hidden part of the glass;
@TheToastPeople We were good...once. Unlike your Mathmos; we moved all our production to China; tinkered with the formula for some stupid reason, and turned them into crap. I have tried to get Mathmos over here; but it is illegal to ship them to the states. :(
I bought a lava lamp from a friend at school. Then when I came home from school I went to the shop and bought a plasma lamp (they also sold lava lamps) then I went from the shop. But I came back and bought another one =P Now I want a third one =P
lava lamps are awesome, but yeah the bigger they are the longer it takes for them to get going. great collection, i'm starting to build a collection of them myself.
most would say pirrt crap video seens its just a lava lamp but the fact that i was lookin in to geting 1 of the same make and size i find this video cool :) geting mine tomoz cant get enough of them hehe
is that lamp from lavalampDOTnl by the way? im thinking of buying there cause atleast ill be able to buy backup light bulbs from them
