Where were you exactly? Was this a hand raised Giant River Otter, or was it just a friendly wild one? I'm studying the species at the moment, that's why I'm asking :o)
i was in venezuela, in los llanos. the otter had been accidently caught by fishermen who didn't know what to do with him so they took him home to ask our guide (a biologist) what they should do with him. the guide told them that they should have put him straight back but that the mother would not want him now. he said they would have to keep pepe until he became sexually mature and would return to the river of his own accord.
