They were made for "Giselle." Of all the greatest ever to come of ballet, the best ever were those who came out as defectors. And these two rank among my absolute faves. Neither got the credit they deserved. Should have been renown as movie stars. His animal way, cavalier looks and her overall perfection in every possible aspect of ballet itself. Here they are, doing one of the finest works in all ballet history. They should still be dancing now.
What a handsome couple they made - everything seemed so effortless for them, way beyond dancing.. They complemented each other so well - him so tall and her with those long, long legs and oh that passion - Mikhail never made her look this good. That is so hard to come by but the Russians carry it in their soul. Magnificent!!!. Thank so much for sharing.
I love how he knows just how she needs to move, especially starting at 1:23-1:45. I have this special on video somewhere. I love Makarova's insights into how she things about her dancing. Alexander showcases it beautifully.
This is as good as it could ever have been in our lifetime. I am grateful for the narration from M. Dolin with Mme M. was response and we must be grateful that M. Godunov was partnering. Such a loss the G. died too young...
Great partnering and chemistry! He really presents her with magic! It reminds me of one of the clips where he partners a young Lopatkina in Swanlake, the white act
They look wonderful together. I had heard that Alexander Godunov was secretly shy. If you look, you can see it in his face here. I heard that he was a wonderful partner not only for his technical skill, but also because, at 6' 2" he was such a flamboyant presence , tall and strong. I LOVE TO SEE THEM PRACTICE !!! Many Thanks !!!
Godunov was great as Albrecht - graceful in each movement of his vivid suffer, his jumps in the 2-nd act were full of passion - mb, the only Albrecht that really loved Giselle...

Magic, yes. This is a right word.
Nowadays there are so many really good dancers, some of them have got all: technique, speed, class, even inspiration. But not magic, alas.
