  • omg i went here when i was 3 i am now 12 i can reneber everythin u peps that live there are amazing i will neva eva forget u :( i hope i will vist soon :D

  • And as for MOST people selling chinese made stuff! We are a nation of highly educated, highly skilled people with diverse means of employment.MOST St Lucians do not sell chinese made products to visitors. You are a blatant liar and I advise you to think twice before you sully the name of our beautiful island. I don't know where you visited but it sure wasn't St Lucia. Keep off the drugs!

  • To optical76: St Lucia is a DEVELOPING nation not as developed as your lovely Chicago. Nevertheless, I have lived in St Lucia all my life and your comment is an insult to the dignity of all St Lucians. I don't know where you visited because it sure wasn't St Lucia. I am yet to see people living in grass huts. I do not live in a grass hut or a shack made of tin scraps! . . .

  • Chicago? DEVELOPED?? LLLLOOOOLLLL!!!!!

  • i'm ok with you rocheche1232 i'm from martinique just the island above

  • Yes just one person die, the rest are OK, thanks for your comment

  • @jcespinosam .

    .just 1 person.???

. i mother? 1 father? i sister or little brother..just one??/? wow...thanks for the footage.. but it was not JUST another human being..

  • Wow...I hope everyone there & all in this storm's path will be well.

  • can't understand why optical76 came to that conclusion. Seems that u only visited one part of the island. Regardless of your opinion of our beautiful isle, would it make u better to know that st.lucia was recently granted WORLD HERITAGE STATUS IN 2004? Is it also comforting that many visitors make st.lucia their vacating spot and keep coming back? Too bad that u did not make much of your stay here.

  • fuck u with di ass u com an do deh .who doe like it fuck u an u fuck again caues an.i lov 2 put ppl in deh place caues dat lucia wat lucia doin

  • Whomever said that St Lucia had grass huts must have been thinking of somewhere else. Perhaps somewhere in their imagination. I would know. I was born on the island and though I live in the US now I spent over 30 years on the island. Please go do your research and try not to insult us again. We are a Proud People

    Signed: Damn Proud Lucian

  • Damn rights you should be a proud St.Lucian!!! It's a beautiful island!!!!!

From your Canadian friend who LOVES St.Lucia!

  • to the man that said we are a pretty poor country are you joking? st.lucian teachers are the highest paid in the eastern caribbean. so tell me....if we are poor...... what you gonna say for the other islands......and not to mention, GRASS HUTS????????????? WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU STAYING?

  • opitical76 you such a crab.Have you really taken a look at the infrastructure of this small economy to others.Bullshit statement.Tell me where you saw those houses? I've been to a few places in my life and i'm never to quit to judge. When most times we don't know what's in our closet.Tell me was this the only place you went? You may won the race but you will always be a rat!

  • AMAZING!

Watch my videos from Isreal. THANKS!

  • i was there when it happen feel free for any questions

  • optical76 i am sure it was were you were... Did you go to the north of the island? Did you travel to the west coast? And we do not leave is grass huts... infact we do not have grass huts, perhaps shacks, but not huts.. so it is wrong to say, that most people leave in grass huts and shacks... i will perhaps say that you didn;t take a tour.. and like every other country we do have poor communities.

  • MY wife and I spent our honeymoon in St. Lucia when it hit. We were near Castries at the Regency Sandals.

  • optical76. Yes. We are not much of a wealthy country. They are still many old communities, and people living in shacks. But, they are also many average, and rich families/individuals in saint lucia. I live in a bit of an average family in Saint Lucia.

  • Another Hurricane!? I blame Bush and Cheney.

  • hi i'm from italy , so far away to have such kinds of problems, but i'm very near to you all that are living in that area in these days ... hope that all will be fine soon .. st. lucia is a place on my personal list of future vacations ... hope to be able to go there in couple of years ... wonderful choice of music!!! keep in touch

  • Grazzie Marcos

  • Hey! I've uploaded video straight from the disaster!

    Check it out.

  • GReat ;music this is the way to see the news with some sweet music

  • i agree, this is awsome music, who is it ? i h had a difficult time fowwing the vid because i was drifting to the music ...i have heard Joe Cocker do a lot that sounds like this recently , and by the way , it does not look like a poor island .

  • Al Kooper, Looking for a Home

  • i feel sad now. and im going to jamaica soon like tomrrow. :(

  • Dean is not a very good name for a bringer of doom.

  • Dean owns you u.u

  • the music ruined this video...which was so so to begin.

  • ...

damn my grandfather lives in jamaica and i've lost all contact from and to him....

  • It's GOING TO WASHINGTON D.C. TO TAKE BACK THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

  • Yeah it hit us here in jamaica quite hard.. Theres some deaths but it didn't seem as bad as Huricane Gil was.

  • I live in Cancun and Dean is about to strike in here... hopefully doesn't hit as strong as hit in there ...

  • hurricanes will be worst and worst in the future

  • st lucia is a very poor island and i cant imagine what those people are gonna do now? its too bad cause st lucians are wonderful friendly people. i feel bad and my heart goes out to all affected by dean. the US will be next after the storm gets bigger. could be worse than katrina!

  • i don't know were you get the poor info from. but it ewouuld be nice before you make statement's you look up information. but St.Lucia is one of the wealthiest caribbean island's go look for the info homie.

  • that's a common sight everywhere in the developing world, not just St. Lucia.

  • I live in st.lucia. I'm from new york but I have alot of family here so I'm staying here until I'm old enough to get out myself. It's not as bad as you make it out to be, on my everyday life I never see people living in huts. You'll only see stuff like that if you're in some kind of tourist attraction. THe people are ignorant in the sense of their music. Many of our parents didn't finish secondary school (high school)and most of our grandparents never went to school.

  • i don't know which cheap ass hotel you went to or if you even came to st.lucia in the FIRST place but St.Lucia is not the stupid picture you have painted in your head. And exactly where in St.Lucia has a GRASS hut? I believe you have mistaken St.Lucia for Africa and i'm tired of you people coming to MY country and thinking that we are backward. We might not be as mordern as other countries but we are not jungle people who walk around naked. Anyways i hope you visit the REAL St.Lucia some day

  • i stayed in the sandals grande st. lucian. it was located in the north west side of the island. we had a guy drive us all around the island for two days. ok, grass huts...maybe i was exaggerating a bit. but cinder block houses with tin roof yes.

and its not right to put words in others mouths. and FYI if it weren't for "you people" your country would really be poor. tourism keeps you alive. duh. anyway, to clarify, i loved the visit there. and i would go back if i could afford it.

  • ... thats how much you know about us.. my advice to you , next time you decide to travel to any country or continent or island, brush up on the history.. it may help you from saying and or being ignorant... thank you for visiting and i do hope that you get another chance to visit St Lucia..

  • i loved the people as well. jeez, maybe i got the wrong impression of you guys. thought u were cool. now you put words in my mouth and freak out over me saying your country is poor. so freakin what! its true. most countries are poor. America is 10 trillion dollars in debt. now thats poor! oh well, keep lying to yourselves. come to chicago one day so you have something to compare it to. you will see where im coming from. thats all. and i did see a few huts-want pics or someting.

  • you did get the wrong impression of us in St lucia. i have been to CHI-TOWN and there is no comparism. you have no idea how we live. we are happy with what we have, as poor as you may think we are.. at least you admit that America is in debt , yeah so what!!!! as far as grass huts.. you may have seen some on your tour of the island... but did u see anyone living in it????? i think not.. simply because it is there as a tourist attraction as well as the huts..

  • right lucia not poor lucia is developing very well

  • WE AREN'T THAT POOR

  • obn the world bank list we place # 27 but thius anmn don't know what he talking about.

  • lol look for sean kingston in kingston, jamica

  • fuck off and stop sending chain letters

  • hurricane james dean

  • So I guess you have facts or other types of proof to back up your claim.

  • can i please have title and artist of the song? thanks

  • The singer is Al Kooper, the song: Looking for a Home

  • thanks a lot, one

  • well thats good, 20,000 people here still have no electricity, and 5,000 no water. We sure have come along way here. lol

  • lol at 4:18 a boat in the middle of a street hurricanes are so strong i live in miami an last year during wilma an airport 2 miles from my houses had a highest sustained wind at 110 the tar from my neighbors roof ripped off and landed on my brothers car

  • Do you have power back? We lost power in puerot rico for aoubt 5 hours here on hte southeast side yesterday after the back end of dean pasted. Did they turn it off before, or did it get knoocked out?

  • si, tenemos electricidad reestablecida totalmente

  • Thanks for the post.. I am from Castries, got electricity late last night, only to discover that cable is still down.. shame that outsiders probably know more of what happened than we in St. Lucia do.. but I know the utility companies are trying their best.

    Thanks again for the video.

    Stay safe

  • Hi fortunately not much damage on the island. We live at Cap Estate almost on

top of Point Hardy. It was very rough, but no damage. I hear you speaking Spanish. I lived there for 13 years. We are Dutch residents since 4 years. Robert & Helen

  • Thanks Robert and Helen my phone just in case 758-7135666

  • May God protect you all and keep you save, Will pray for all your safety. I from an island in eastern Canada called Newfoundland. We no what life is like on an island. The North Atlantic can shows its furry at time. Wonderfull video and beautiful soul music. Who the singer? Take care.

    Canadian Friend.

  • Hi Carl, the singer is Al Kooper and the song "Looking for a Home"

  • Thanks my friend. Be safe, God always takes care of his children.

    Carl

  • Thanks so much for uploading this video jcespinosam and for introducing me to the music of Al Kooper- who I have never heard of. What an amazing voice and song. Anyway, very cool video. This is what I love about you- seeing news straight from the people, not filtered through the media. By the way, that's a sweet house y'all have! :)

  • Instead of "this is what I love about you" I meant to say "this is what I love about YouTube", though I guess in a sense I love you too for uploading this cool video. LOL! Such a cool song by the way.

  • Lol, thanks anyway

  • thanks, got the name...i want the song and people stay strong!

  • Hey cubauno2, in case you still need the title of the song, the guy who posted the video said it is by a guy named Al Kooper and is called, "Looking for a Home". It's an amazing song. And I agree, people stay strong....AND SAFE!

  • im from saint lucia..the hurricane did not do much damage.there were fallen trees.posts, some roofs flew away,i even heard that the sea had taken over the city.well this wass all i cud ask for..i prayed that it didnt hit us n it didnt..so ill pray that it doesnt hit jamaica and the bvi..got uncles der..

  • Who's singing here? Too much soul to be Paul Anka, not enough to be Ray Charles.

  • Al Kooper

  • may jah protect y'all there in jamaica..strength...i'll pray i'll pray <i'm from curacao>

  • so i pray for you youth i have frends in st ann runaway bay maypen so i hope all is save and i hope you have some place you can go or your hous is a rock house this is the best

  • i understand you but nof peuple stay in jamaica cant go out of jamaica so i hope it is not the same like gilbord mushup jamaica

  • Thanks folks...I'll try and make a video with my cellphone when it gets here and I'll upload it as soon as possible. I don't know when I'll do it because, I've been told that electricity will be out as of tomorrow and I know the power won't come back for a long time. During Hurricane Gilbert, it took a month before we got back water and two months for electricity. During Hurricane Ivan it took a week.

  • i have a lot of frends in jamaica thats way i say jamaica the lord have the hand over your island i sit in germany and i pray for you jah is by your side

  • i hope and wish the best for jamaica my frends god help you bless save your life

  • All of us, wish the best for this incredible people.

  • I'm in Jamaica and this shitty hurricane is coming here as a Cat 4. Please pray for all of us here on this island because, tourist can leave but, we can't; we have to stay here and weather it out. It's a shame that this hurricane has my first name! LOL

  • deanclklk, please go to an elevated place, far from the sea. Start to save water in all the cans you have. Even fill the washer machine with water. Get matches and candles, food in cans. liquid milk in boxes. all the food possible and chocolates. find a good sheltter. My prayers will be with you all, dear friends. Don't worry and be faithfull. I will keep in touch.

  • i'd get out of jamaica for the time being if I were you. It is going to be Cat 5 now. even worse than katrina was.

  • I know it's going to be a Cat 5 but, i can't leave here. I don't have anywhere else to go man...oh well, that is life.

  • Please let us know you are alright. Prayers for the people of Jamaica!

  • Woah ...luckily that didn't happen in B'dos!! i would have freaked!

  • I also live in the Dominican Republic, but at the north coast, hopefully nobody gets hurt at the south coast, at the moment it´s windy and wet here, don´t want to imagine, what´s up at the other end of the island!!!!
