I am really appalled at people's lack of efforts to even remotely understand the process of science. This was an experiment in social psychology, which attempts to generally explain human social behavior, not politics. The study is not about whether or not Palin is competent. The study was quite well designed to test its hypotheses, which anyone who read the article and understands experimental design can easily tell. Please, PLEASE try to inform yourself before slandering someone's work.

When interviewed, Jolie seems to say all the right things with all the right manorisms. From what I'm hearing, the people that evaluated Jolie were DIFFERENT than the people that evaluated Palin. The reason for having the two people is likely to see if their hypothesis can be replicated across different people. The hypothesis is that people evaluate competence of attractive women lower when asked to focus on their looks. It panned out for both Palin and Jolie.
1. The study found that focusing on who she was as a person instead of her appearance increased people's chances of voting for her. It didn't find that she is hot so she lost.
2. Taxpayers didn't pay anything for it.
