Nice job on the video and your set-up. I wonder if a rope and pulley above the pump might make it easier to lift the piston? I love watching people's way's around things. I've seen bucket hand dredges built with 2 flapper(check) valves working simmiliarly to hand pump water/material from a stream. And, threre's nothing wrong with cheap. Some people get into this hog wild and lose plenty. :-( Keep up the good work and Good-Luck with the heavy pans! Nuggets to ya!
Very nice work, you have great camera skills...know how to keep the pace and I like your camera angles. Also, the engineering and inventiveness of your devices like the water pump is amazing. You have a lot of patience for such a small run. Deadwood formation? If so you must be on one of the terrace locations, considering I hear zero water noise you must be up and away from the highways as well...Keep up the great work.
Nice location, I have my sluice box on the way here. I am heading to the Hills in a few weeks for a few weeks maybe months. The price of gold is looking good so I have employed myself. Let me know if you need some help, I'll be in the area near the middle of Oct...Good luck!

Laws vary from state to state, and within federal lands. Any mining issues here are contolled by the Black Hills National Forest, which in turn is run by the Bureau of Land Management, overseen by the U.S. Dept. of the Interior. Yeah!! Most areas open for casual prospecting (or the weekend hobbiest) are limited to non-motorized equipment. If you want to go to the next step and use motorized equipment, you need to apply for a mining permit. I'm taking the cheap route. Thx
