One of the things I love about Vienna is how she has so many different ways of playing the same song, varying some of the notes while keeping the melody intact.
@bluelagoon1980 That can be largely a familiarity thing...I find that when I've written something and become really familiar with the song structure I'll start playing around with flourishes...it's those little touches that really make the music unique, any bum can throw together a blob of chords and have it work but with this musician (and good musicians in general) I can "hear" that it's her, her music has a fingerprint of sorts that's undeniably "her"
I love her voice and her songs, that goes without saying. What struck me about this particular clip is the tickatickaticka sound of the drumsticks before she begins singing and plays out thru the song. The song itself seems to have a "heartbeat". It pulls the listener into the song. Just amazing!
@AAparallel Is that brushes? Hmm...must be my crappy speakers :) it sounded like some of the native percussion instruments I've heard, a hollow wooden tube you can tap with sticks to get a neat percussion. Either way, it's a simple but effective backing to the music
She looks a lot like Gong Li , amazing voice and composition.
