at times the words seem to converge to one true, sad yet beautiful message that is not just seen by one's level of consciousness, but somehow touches that deep and inner part that is metaphorically referred to as the heart. sylvia plath was an amazing women and writer. r.i.p.
theres a really good portuguese poet called florbela espanca reading her or sylvia and then the crap ppl do today and how much destruction they did to language both in usa or brazil, by downgrading it to most basic in school, even chaging its complexity that trys to compare to life itself and ppl most inner feelings, its sad, without the vehicle of language ppl fall into sub human level
Does 'the child's cry melts in the wall' indicate that she leaves behind her cares, her identity as a parent, and is living in the moment? I also never quite got the 'foam to wheat' image. I do like this poem very much, though. The last line makes me well up every time.
hmm. why does the video end in black? The child's cry and the "cauldron of morning" mean rebirth, light, catharsis, as opposed to the initial "stasis in darkness".
thank you so much for doing this. you are wonderful to keep her amazing work circulating in any way that it can. and it means so much to get to hear her read her work herself.
The video goes with the poem beautifully. Bravo.

My favorite poem from her is "Dialogue Between Priest and Ghost", but this is good as well. As all her poems are.

I never cease to marvel at her range, born all of a piece...and such rhythym! The journey itself screms destination and finality in stasis- GENIUS!
