OMG - You chose one of the worst examples of period costume Movies to compare the two sisters. BTW - BOTH were redheads. While the Costumes are nice costumes, the actual period costumes look amazingly better. Just sayin'... Nice vid though.

i like both of them see... elizabeths are bright and colorful but then some of them dont have a pretty structure like on 1:48 and 2:05 and 1:25. and then mary's are very pretty but not so colorful like on 3:20 and 3:27 and 3:46

I prefer Elizabeth's, since they have more colour. Mary's gowns are elegant, but I'm a bit bored that almost every single of them is dark (her red gown was SO beautiful, though). My favourite gowns were the yellow at 1:23 (it's so BRIGHT!), the silvery/blueish at 1:35 (she looks like a sort of moon goddess) and the gorgeous blue at 1:40 (omg that colour ♥).

I like more of Mary's when she is a young woman. Also at 3:46 she looks like the Tudors version of Anne Boleyn. I think Elizabeth's high collars on her gowns are less appealing than the collars on Mary's. But I do like Elizabeth's gown at 0:29 & my favorite of all is 1:39.

It's well known that Mary was known for having many very beautiful & expensive gowns & jewels where as Elizabeth as a teen & young adult favored simple black or white gowns & plain simple jewels.Mary was given a large allowance being older & more accepted by their father after Anne Boleyn is put to death. Also she was Catholic & at that time Catholic's were very much is favor of extravagance. Elizabeth was younger and often ignored by their father so given less money plus she was protestant.

@rbflowt2 lol you are either joking or misinformed. Yes, Elizabeth's lack of funds limited the amount of clothes that she could buy, and her father, Henry VIII hated Elizabeth's mother for promising him a son, but not being able to give him one and so he punished Bess for it, but her sense of fashion neither suffered because or it nor the the fact that she was not Catholic. Mary's gowns were well known to be drab and matronly, while Elizabeth was considered a pioneer in fashion.

@katbates1 However, in this video at least, I'd have to say that Mary won the show. Elizabeth definitely would have won it if the pictures in this slideshow-type clip were either pictures of their portraits, or from real life (if only that were possible.) The dresses shown here are beautiful and concordant with that time period, but are not something that these queens would have been apt to wear in all reality.

@katbates1 Elizabeth's gowns later in life made her a pioneer in fashion. As a teen she wore rather simple and plain gowns in black or white. Mary's gowns were not always fashionable but always of beautiful fabric and often with many jewels. They weren't very flattering on her normally but still pretty. Nothing compared to what Elizabeth wore after becoming queen but not drab.

i feel like we see a glimmer of the queen elizabeth will be when she's wearing the black dress from the dream sequence. it's incredibly similar to one of the gowns she's depicted wearing in the middle part of her reign. black slowly became more fashionable for formal wear instead of for just mourning.

While these gowns are lovely? They are really not what would have been worn and more a Hollywood description. There are better gowns that show actual Henrician clothing of Mary and Elizabeth!
