  • "we could all put our heads together and the bullet could go down the line"

    LMFAO

  • Dwayne Dibley??!

  • Apple of the people sounds more communist than fascist to me

  • Where'd they get a crossbow

  • Since they're in England, shouldn't the driver seat be on the right?

  • Hmm. Very good observation =]

  • "im on the run from the fascist police with a murderer, a mass murderer, and a man in a bright nylon shirt"

    LOL

  • Well - he's cracking up.

    LOL

  • This is such an amazing episode. Every time i'm feeling negative, upset, and cynical, i think of this and it cheers me up in 2 ways:

    1) DUANE DIBLEY?!

    2) The whole idea that the despair is a hallucination and separate from reality serves as a reminder that we DO have the choice in how we view the world, and that if we put things in a better, more positive light, we can get through anything.

    <3 Red Dwarf!!!

  • here here !!!!!!

  • Best show ever!

  • "I AM Rimmer?" "...I'm afraid so." Bwahaha!!

"Have you quite finished being strange?" XD

  • the best is in the "smeg-ups" from this scene where you see Chris Barris tip the couch thing he's sitting on over.

  • This episode held some moral points... but I wont get into them for fear of looking like a fag. Also...Dwayne Dibley?

  • very 1984, they really could expand that theme if they wanted to

  • this was probily the base for back to earth

  • this makes an excellent cyberpunk spin off ,

  • group hallucination? sounds like fun

  • Traffic control, LOL!

  • it's depressing that within 5 minutes the next people have got further then they ever got!

  • Dwayne Dibbly

  • *holds badge up* Bullet.

    ...That's traffic control.

  • least they didnt have to make an expencive car chase scene with this script :D

  • Have you quite finished being strange?

  • Duane Dibbley is funny

  • This is my favourite episode ever!! watch it all the time! and the red dwarf writers news this! therefore they based the back to earth episodes on this! I personaly think i would love to see more red dwarf! and yes the series went downhill, not by much tho! there still funny its just different humour! so different people like it. i would love a return for the crew! WE WANT MORE RED DWARF!

  • The dialogue is top class here.

    'Bullet, Cybernautics'

    'Thats traffic control'

    GENIUS!

  • Agreed. I also love how Kryten becomes all macho because he's got a cool sounding name:

"Move one inch and I'll crush every bone in your body!!"

OUTSTANDING! I died laughing through that whole exchange.

  • Thats right, the way he's says it is classic.

    Great episode.

  • And this leads right into what is widely considered 'The decline' of the show, i.e in undertaking this very mission they lose the Dwarf, spend the best part of time searching for it and indulging in increasingly-reliant on situational circumstances as opposed to a strong script, and the widely critisized series 7. I personally liked series 8, well, all of them, but this is where many say it took a downturn. If only they hadn't gone on this mission.

  • Dwarf was GREAT up till the end of 6.

Thats where they should have left it, on that final cliff hanger.

  • "this is a nightmare. I'm on the run from the fascist police with a murderer, and a mass murderer and a man in a bri nylon shirt"

    Best ever episode,

    simple as

    lol

  • u know if u think it about it even if he had shot it was a toy bow and arrow and kryten hs been hit in the head with a axe and considering what happend didnt hurt much

  • Arguably they'd have been fine if he'd shot it, Rimmer cannt b killed and Krytens head is very durable.

  • he's right you know

  • "I'm not Duane Dibbley?"

    "No"

    "I AM Rimmer?"

    "I'm afraid so"

Such a well-written episode, one of the best.

  • Nice one!

  • hey this is kinda like the back to earth thing

  • "Duane Dibbley?!"

  • this must have the best car chase scene i've ever seen. amazing effects :-p

  • 0:28 I like how in this scene the new Cat, Kryten & Rimmer just stand about awkwardly while the other two snog. Funny.

  • One of the best Red Dwarfs ever. Here's hoping for Series 9

  • 6:41 what exactly does lithium carbonate look like?

  • Seeing as how the room was probably full of it by that point, I'd say it looks like any colourless gas.

  • lol

  • agreed, colourless gass

  • The best one ever, and that's saying something. Better than Gunmen, Polymorph and Dimension Jump put together.

  • I agree although backwards and polymorph are very good aswell.

  • Does antbody know the song from which the guitar solo is taken from during 0:21 to 0:50?

  • 'Victory' by Stephen and Darren Loveday.

    Good luck finding it though.

    I can't =(

  • Why isn't that alternate Red Dwarf rock theme on the series 5 dvd extras?

  • i wonder if they ever checked Rimmers swimming certificate after this?

  • They should do that.

  • magnificent.. comic relief run things!

  • I would soooo like to see a novelized version of this episode. It seems like the novels delve into the darkest sides of RD in a way that the show cannot as a comedy sit-com. And, of course, Back to Reality is brimming with deep dark themes and opportunities for further plot-making. :D What a great episode!

  • have you read "Sophie's World"? i suggest you read it. same kind of theme to this episode i.e. distinguishing dream and reality! its good, i promise.

  • The dude with the sub machine gun was in Home Alone 3.

  • Last Hatty episode.

  • i was using the order that they came on the vhs videos and not their original screening date hence the mistake that order is Back to Reality ,Holoship ,Angels and Demons , and i cant find tape 2 at the mo but i thought Quarantine was last but ive already proven that my memory is shot so.....You could probably search this down but i cant be arsed .Peace over and out.

  • Yay for Holly! She saved their lives AND took out the squid.

I also liked 3:30 through 3:53. They're like little kids playing cops and robbers. :P

  • I like 3:28-4:54 it's a funny scene LOL I like it when Cat said "see you later suckas".LOL

  • This episode is bloody amazing.

  • Technician: "You know that part where Lister jumps start the second big bang?"

Rimmer: "Jump starts the second Big Bang!?"

Technician: "Well that's the final irony isn't it. Lister the ultimate atheist turns out to be in fact god!"

    Brilliant dialog.

  • This without a doubt the best written episode of RD, the mix of comedy and drama elevates this to top of the class. If they do indeed decide to continue the series they have to go back to this kind of quality writing. I say screw a new TV series and make a fantastic Motion Picture of Red Dwarf, complex, funny, dramatic and stay away from american style writing and gags.

  • "Duane Dibbley?!"

  • this is an awsome episode lol i love it it is soo funny

  • "I'm standing in an alley with a murderer and a mass-murderer and a man in a bri-nylon shirt!" classic

  • Wow, rich Lister is very handsome.

  • Duane Dibbley?!? this is one of my favorite episodes.

  • yea great epodode did u know that there is a christmas special coming out soon this year are u looking forward 2 it

  • this is the only episode of RD ive never seen

  • Classic Comedy!
