Hi, I just picked one up myself. Just google Casio CZ 5000 Manual. Get the one from the 1st link. Its a big PDF of the original manual. It has a very detail explanation of how to program the sequencer. Hopefully that helps!
quick question, cz5000 have midi in/out? also Ive heard it has a sequencer, is this true? one more for the road, how do the keys feel, decent, or are they toylike?
hello - yes it has midi in/out; foot pedal, sustain; phones; and also a cartridge input for stored sounds. I experience a slight delay with the midi which can be off-putting, but i understand this is typical. I use the midi to connect to a Mac (see my oxygeneiii video). The keys are full size 3/4 depression, the best in their day - but not touch sensitive of course -shame!
press realtime + track number you want it on for real time recording. Choose the number of polyphonic voices you want using the load/save (value) arrows. Press the red record to start recording.
funny - i haven't tried recording it to tape - maybe I will now! thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't go too well into the Boss recorder, so i just mic an old amp. I got the tape recorder as it does really good analogue tape echo :)
the 6th link is the one with the barely readable photocopy of the manual (can't post a link here)...it's hard to understand too but give it a try and report your findings,please...good luck...
someone who needs the manual in english, where they describe the use of the sequencer, mail me...nevertheless its fucking hard to understand what they want from you in that manual...
I remembered pressing combinations between the record part and the number buttons to get it to work, but iirc there don't seem to be realtime tempo adjustment.
Don't have it with me at the moment so I can't re-experiment.
Go for Roland or Korg, Roland Juno-g, Micro Korg, or one of the older ones if the budget is small, Juno-106, Roland JP-8000.. As long as you can program via a PC and has midi. Unless you can live without that..
Thank you for the encouragement! I might have a look at Jarre - hopefully the sheet music will give instructions on voicings and all that as I am new to synths; the casio manuals are completely unreadable- i might try and get a more modern kit - before the credit crunch moves in for the kill..
I can't believe i've forgotten, what it the melody at 0:22 ?
Thanks in advance, lovely vintage synth by the way :D

@zomvor Hi the melody is Bach's 'jesu god of man's desiring, or words to that effect in G maj' elsewhere there is a bit of pink floyd - a mish mash!

p.s. - yes it has a sequencer with 8 tracks - but the manuals don't help with this!

Hey I figured out how to use the sequencer !!
I posted of video of it in use. I couldn't make one showing how to use though as My camera is on my computer..
It's a funny video none the less..

it's about that vintage! mid 1980s this kit - wouldn't surprise me if sega used it for military purposes!
