There is a difference between oc and recolor. Vocaloid oc's are kind of pointless considering if you really wanted to get into it your could create your own version called and utau. It allows you all the creative freedom you want and all the software is free.

And I am aware of UTAU. There are several reasons why I don't use it. For one, it is low quality. If I wanted to use the voice of myself or my friends, I would just ask them to sing and it would be much better sounding than a synthesizer. Another reason is that it takes a lot of work and time to make a voice bank.

Also, many automatically like something if it's by a singer they like, and don't consider it's overall quality. In this regard, I sympathize with you, and am also annoyed when people fan-gasm over something which isn't quite up to standards. I don't usually like writing essays, but for you I made an exception.
