  • 1930s, wow.

  • i want to work in disney studios

  • heh. heheh. fell out of fashion... right... heheh.

  • I love how this was stated: " Belle was beautiful, but unaware of it.....she is a character that is not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well."

  • Even the creators think Gaston is a douche!

  • Love this movie. Fun fact: the directing job was first offered to Richard Williams, the man best known for doing all of the animation in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He declined in order to finish his dream project, the Thief and the Cobbler. It could have been a very different movie (not saying better, just saying different).

  • this movie makes me feel warm and comfy on the inside and the song Beauty and the Beast brings chils to me

    THIS MOVIE IS THAT GOOD

  • Great! Thanks for posting this! BEAUTY AND THE BEAST FOREVER!

  • the prince looked better when he was a beast

  • 3:06 is fucking scary

  • Anyone know what footage that's from at 1:32 where Walt Disney is walking down the aisle of book shelves?

  • I want these movies back... There are COUNTLESS amount of fairytales left to use... Why only make 3D movies?

  • I miss old Disney

  • i love compuuter animated movies and all that.. but i wish they still made movies like this

  • @dudewheresmycar46 ME TOO! I MISS HAND DRAWN ANIMATION!

  • i can be 50 and still watch this movie...

  • I'm surprised they didn't mention the CGI, it's a huuuuge part of the movie!

  • Wasn't this film the first to be animated with the use of computers?

  • 8 people don´t liked it? OMG the World is lost!!!!

This Making of is Incredible!!!! I loved!!!

  • Alan Menken = Awesomeness. The crew of Beauty and the Beast are truly talented artists. I applaud them all.

  • Practically perfect in every way : ).... oops; wrong movie ; )

  • I want nothing more than to be like these people, but I'm afraid I never will...

  • I love how Disney always adds little friends to the main caracters like Ariel's fish, Aladdin's monkey and magic carpet, Cinderella's mice, and in Beauty and the Beast its the candle stick and Mrs. Pott. I think these characters make the movies so magical

  • I can really relate to Belle. Everyone says I look like her. I also love reading a lot and am close to my father. I've always felt like I wanted to do something big with my life. I can't stand macho guys like Gaston. I'm more into the shy, sweet types. I love how they used Gaston as a parody against those types of guys, showing that being strong and tough doesn't always get you the girl.

  • @fanime1 you just want sex with the beast

  • @Kapojos XD Good one. I will admit though that the Beast is my favorite Disney prince.

  • @fanime1 Mine too!

  • @fanime1 I know what you mean. I can't believe there can be girls who consider guys like Gaston attractive and nice. He's so ugly, disgusting, mean, bigheaded...in short, the baddie of the movie. But I hate even more people like that idiot with no character who's always following him and kissing his...Anyway, the best guy in this movie is definitely the Beast!!!

  • i just want to cry and im a man, and i want to be a 2d animator so bad

  • why am i tearing up here :')

  • Used to be one of my favorite films. Amazing!!!

  • got goosebumps near the end :)

  • I love the raw animation, theres something really fascinating about it :)

  • hope they continue the traditional way of animating great cartoons for new generations to watch!

  • Thank you, guys... You did a wonderful job!

  • B&B is my fave classic disney movie. Simply spectacular, the song tears me up everytime. Belle is my fave "non" princess (cause shes not actually a princess but who cares, her gold dress is the best disney princess gown), Ariel is my fave underwater princess, Pocahontas is my fave tribal princess, Tiana is my fave african-american princess... theres just no denying these animated girls are my role models, when i was young and even now sometimes.

  • @TomboyCactus101 I'm not quite understanding... how can Ariel be your fav underwater princess when she's the ONLY underwater princess? it's not like there's scores of underwater princesses to choose from. same argument for your fav tribal and african-american princess choices, considering they are the only ones available.

the "Belle is my fave 'non' princess" sentence makes sense because there are more than one non princesses to choose from.

    just sayin.

  • @blckbooty i meant like they are "different" kind of princesses. Not they are many underwater princess or tribal princess. I meant they are my faves cause some of them are unique: Ariel is an underwater princess, Pocahontas is a tribal princess and Belle is not exactly a princess but shes considered one (that is after she marries the beast only then shes a "Princess"). Others like Snow White and Aurora are just typical princesses. Get what i mean? XD

  • Walt Disney wold be proud of this movie!

  • RIP Walt Disney

he's trully a gift from God

  • @sosha20, ...Walt died long before this movie was made.

  • @Kari166 .............blah! XD

  • @sosha20, *snicker*

  • @sosha20 well, I'd thank Howard Ashman for this one ;)

  • Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle, actually cried with tears when she was doing the scene where beast dies...LOL

  • LOVE HEALS. Gawd. I just. GUH <3

  • This story IS beauty...

  • @GDIllustraties: It's a "tale as old as time", originating first in France and becoming the first animated film to win the Oscar. LOVE IT.

It is indeed...Beauty (and The Beast, too).

  • @TheFilmCollectorDude yeah me too :(

  • Inspiring!

  • Walt Disney would've been ashamed of what his studios are coming up with today!

  • @Whinestee You must see Tangled! It is artistically Outstanding!

Nice songs (Golden Globe Awards nominated for Best Original Song ''I See The Light'')

Nice Score by Oscar-winner Alan Menken!

    Incredible animation!

    Beautiful backgrounds!

Legendary animator Glen Keane (Ariel, Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan) is Executive Producer! ;)

  • disney was good back in the 90s and now 20 years later disney has gone from the king of animated films by making great movies to making crappy cgi films and live action shit when are they gonna go back to making another hand drawn film i want more hand drawn films i want them to turn more great fairy tales into hand drawn animated films dont get me wrong disneys alright i just want them to make good animated films again i get that animation tastes are changing but i still miss the old animation

  • @nave712 Don't be worried, Tangled is a great movie. Worth watching it in the cinemas.

This film holds an overall approval rating of 93%, based on a sample of 28 reviews. (source: Rotten Tomatoes' Top Critics).

Quentin Tarantino named Tangled as one of his top five favorite films of 2010.

  • @oopaulorafael i know its worth watching as long as its a musical

  • thank you Roy Disney, for being the best person involved in animation in the 90s!

  • look out for beauty and the beast diamond editon on blu ray and dvd im gettin it!

  • Yes no doubt this is the best of its kind ....

a Legendary movie for the disney world ...

    Truely is a marvel ... : )

  • 4:43 Andreas Deja

  • The sketch from 1:05-1.09 is enchanting

  • ALAN MENKEN IS A DISNEY GENIUS!

  • Actually, "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Princess and The Frog" have some parallels in their story. Both protagonists are considered "outsiders" and "odd" to those around them. Belle is an outcast b/c she reads and wants more out of her life. Tiana is deemed odd b/c she aspires to own her own restaraunt and rise above her circumstances as an African American woman. Also, both ladies fall in love w/ the initally selfish prince who've been transformed on account of their actions.

  • I have the New York Film festival version of this movie on LaserDisc - I want to upload it somehow but don't know what to do. I would probably put it on pirate bay or something

  • It's a shame that Howard Ashman did not live long enough for the premier and that he didn't get to share in it's success after working so hard on it. It's also a shame that he never got to see the broadway musical version because Broadway was the field he and Alan both worked in.

It's also a shame that Walt Disney didn't live to see this movie because he had been on a mission to tackle this story and the mission was finally accomplished.

Walt and Howard would've been so proud of this!

  • Oooo, the Beauty and the Beast theme that plays constantly through out this video is so hauntingly beautiful that it gives me chills!

  • Beauty and the Beast was and always will be my favorite Disney movie!

  • that is an insult to pigs!

  • Sounds like to me that between its Original Theatrical release and IMAX release, they was makin' a killin'.

  • I am very excited about this Disney's project (The Snow Queen is scheduled to be released in 2013). Because it has some people that worked in other great Disney animations:

Written by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, Lion King)

Produced by Don Hahn (Beauty and the Beast, Lion King)

Score composer Alan Menken (Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin)

Btw, The Snow Queen is a fairytale created by the danish Hans Christian Andersen, who is also the creator of The Little Mermaid!

  • @oopaulorafael that project is currently in limbo and is rumored to be scrapped, give me something to prove otherwise, i'd like to be up to date tho

  • @darklight436 Ok, go to Wikipedia and search for: The Snow Queen (2013 film)

  • LONG LIVE Glen Keane, Andreas Deja and all traditional animators from Walt Disney Animation Studios!

LONG LIVE Alan Menken for his memorable Scores!

  • beauty and the beast is my all time favorite disney movie

  • this is a stupid "making of" not the real one from 1991, just a droning voice giving a history, no interviews, etc

  • 1990's=disney animation's peak

  • @YamiGraan07 Indeed it was. Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Mulan, Tarzan, Hercules. You simply can't ask for more.

  • my fav disney movie movie ever

  • Very nice!

  • Ms. Pots' English voice sucks!

  • @Serdikhan Mrs. Pott's Bulgarian voice sucks really bad too. Have you heard it?

  • @KingdomheartsII Her voice is perfect unlike this one. Whatever complains you have about it are totally pointless.

  • @Serdikhan You contradicted yourself. No one cares about the Bulgarian one as you do to the English one.

  • I love this movie! I'm looking forward to getting Beauty and the Beast on DVD later this year.

  • R.I.P howard ashman

  • I'm so impressed by all the hard work they put into Beauty And The Beast.

  • I literally was crying by the end...what a beautiful movie definatly my all time favorite. "Beauty and the Beast" can be watched by any age and still enjoyed. Its beautiful storyline is just the begining of its amazing success.

  • I wonder if they still have that 1930s Beauty and the Beast art in the ARL. I know they have some of The Little Mermaid.

  • yea they do they all past have matieral for future references but they have to be extremely careful since they can easily be ruin

  • @pridelandsqueen77

I want to have a super reference library like that. To get inspiration..

  • Howard Ashman looks like Alan Alda at 2:25.

  • Not even Tom Cruise's or Brad Pitt's movie can beat this movie!!

  • with roy gone now, i wonder what direction disney will go in. hopefully they will continue to be a company of quality and pride.

  • Watch the Princess and the Frog if you want more 2-D movies, its an awesome movie, everyone! :)

    Beauty and The Beast RULES!!

  • I can't wait forit to come out in cinemas!

  • @xxeverbluexx I personly didn't like the Prince and the Frog. But I will say that the Prince and the Frog is a step in the right direction ^^ Hopefully Disney will see that :/

  • @xxeverbluexx it is, i went to the premire in LA

  • @shrapnelmaster117 and your going to go to the premiere of rapunzel?

  • @xxeverbluexx idk, i might, i went cuz my mom works 4 disney and she worked on it, ar they making a new version? or r u talkin about somethin else cuz i haznt heard anything about that

  • @xxeverbluexx Agreed, mate!

Computerish animation is souless, it is not the ''art of animation'' (we can see this at the end of the Credits in traditionally animated features of the Renaissance).

I think that 3D animation (like in the Stampede scene in The Lion King, Deep Canvas in Tarzan, ballroom dance scene in Beauty and the Beast etc.) and Computer effects (like in The Transformation scene in Beauty and the Beast etc.) should only help traditional animation.

  • Possibly the greatest Disney movie ever made. "Beauty"ful in every way imaginable.

  • Walt Disney Pictures' 30th full-length animated feature (which is my all-time favourite movie) will be re-release (this time in 3-D) in 2011. It was originally scheduled for February 2010, but Disney decided to postpone it to coincide with the film's 20th anniversary.

  • no disney movie can beat beauty and the beast

  • I havent seen princess and the frog yet but all I can say is that I really hope it sparks more traditionally animated movies, technology is great and all.....but.. xD

  • I don't know why, but watching this I found myself crying at the end. This movie is without a doubt one of the few movies that will withstand the test of time and will stay forever more in the hearts of millions now and forever.

  • Or maybe I was two I don't remember. haha It was exciting either way!

  • I got this on VHS when I was three years old for Christmas.

  • This is the best Disney cartoon ever!!!

  • the most beautiful disney movie ever.

  • PLZ PLZ PLZ POST A LION KING VID LIKE THIS!! 8D Thanks

  • This is absolutally my favourite movie!! :D <3 I love it!

  • The beast at 2:01 alway gives me nightmares!!

  • This movie is right. Love CAN heal, and it the healing feels great. I absolutely love this movie, and it shows true love can be found with absolutely anyone. I know that now, and am in love. Disney definately made this movie the best of the 1990's! :D <3

  • this was released when I was born!! wow!!

  • this is how the princess and the frog is going to be portrayed

  • VERY BEATIFUL...MAGICAL ART...

  • thank you for posting this... I SO want this movie.... O.o lol

  • a person who reads is eccentric?

  • In the time period it was set, it was probably eccentric for a woman to focus so much on reading and remaining unmarried. That's my guess

  • The word 'Tale as old as time' kinda gives me a goosebump (in a good way)

  • to correct yall, beauty and the beast is gonna be release in 3D on feburary 12, 2010 and 8 month later which means in october 5, 2010, it'll be release on DVD and for the first time on BLU-RAY.

  • beauty and the beast. first CGI cartoon

  • no, it was actually The Black Cauldron, in 1985. i know it sounds ridiculous just because during that time, computers wasnt that well-used, but its true that TBC is the first CGI Disney movie.

  • YAY!!!!! XD lol

  • love glen keane's work on beast, he's got so much heart :)

  • beauty and the beast and the little mermaid are my absolute favorite disney movies...

i love all the otehrs though god its so hard to choose between them though. but i think beauty and the beast and the little mermaid are basically my favorite =P second is mulan and aladdin...haha! sorry. just thought i had to say that!

    thanks for the upload!

  • OMG! Same!

  • @CompleteRandomness22 In my opinion the most intelligent and philosophic Disney animated film is with no doubt The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

(I am not saying that it is The Best, I'm just talking about the philosophic aspect)

The most touching IMO is The Little Mermaid (it's even the most touching film of my life!)

(even the Score is touching LOL! And it is an Oscar-winner Score by Alan Menken! Well-deserved!)

  • @oopaulorafael I do agree that The Hunchback of Notre Dame is very philosophic. I remember I was little and it used to confuse me a lot though x3 I just really liked the gargoyles haha

For some reason though, Beauty and the Beast has stuck with me ever since i was little o.o

But i guess really all the Disney Movies have wonderful story lines, music, and more! (just what i think) I totally forgot about this video, thanks for commenting or i wouldn't have found it again :3

  • @CompleteRandomness22 Oh LOL! You're welcome!

Yeah, I agree with you. Take a look at my Channel Description ;)

  • thanks for this video!

  • Walt Disney won more than 20 Oscars in his career. Surely he'd have had a FAIR idea what it was like to win a Best Picture Oscar.

  • one of my favorite disney movies of all times!!!

  • this was (and is) my all time favorite. i used to watch it everyday when i was little. knew all the songs and movements

  • Hah! That moustache on Gaston really fit! Too bad they removed it. It would have been much better if he'd had it in the movie.

But then again, he looked a bit like Clayton.

  • Wow... thanks for uploading this clip.. So beautiful

  • Beauty And The Beast rules! My mom loves Belle from Beauty And The Beast.

  • i love this movie it was my favorite movie ever and i think i was like 2 or 3 when it was in theater i remember watching it in the teater and coming out and singing tale is old as time it is still my favorite movie to this day

  • I am so amused that they try to apply logic (they added a pillow for Mrs. Pot to land on) yet a talking pot defies logic.

  • Magic doesn't always need logic. Physics, however, does. XD

  • true.

  • i hope the re-release it in theaters again. i missed it the last time. =(

  • Beauty And The Beast is coming out to theaters again, but this time in Disney Digital 3-D.

  • seriously?

  • You betcha. It's coming out in early 2010.

  • I thought they came out in Blu-Ray??

  • Blu-Ray verison I believe comes out in late 2010 somewhere there.

  • I hate it when they do remakes. Why doing a classic new? It's like photographing a photo Van Gough painted... This is not art, this is money.

  • They're not remaking it they are just making it in 3D

  • when?

  • the best and i mean it.. the best disney movie of all time the best there is there was and the best there will and the best there where ever be...

  • OMG! I cried when I watched this. It so brings back memories of how I love to watch this movie!

  • wow I was only 1 year old when this came out

  • Lol same

  • hey guy i checked Beauty and the Beast will be re-release!!!!

  • Wish they would re-release this.

  • they will, it will be out of the Disney vault once again in 2012 :)

  • That's a long wait.

  • i know its still so far away, but good news is you can always buy it on Ebay or Amazon :)...i think thats what my friends are doing for me, since mine got stolen

  • It will be out of the vault in 2010.......My favorite movie of all time will probably be in doom 2012(mermaid)....lol

  • The picture at 3:06 scares the living daylights out of me. :P

  • He's watching you sleep!

  • @flowerbagel HAHAHAHA i read this, looked at 3:06 and laughed my head off. it wasnt scary!

  • Thanks for uploading this making video. I want to learn every animated movies are made from disney.

  • Love those special features and behind the scenes footages. They are so inspiring and jaw droping. Thank you for sharing!!!

  • IF Walt Disney was still alive, he'd be very happy to see the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast on-screen (and on-stage) since he couldn't produce them.s

  • Where did you get this? I have the DVD from 2002, and My copy has 8 or 9 part 'Making of' documentary, I like this better because it's shorter, but this doesn't talk about the broadway musical

  • Wow one of Disney's best. It's so depressing to see how much Disney has changed to what it is now. Lifeless and computerized. They should bring back the original Disney animations that were so unexpected by everyone rather than stay with their expected overrated movies that aren't original at all. Hopefully Princess and the Frog will usher that in.

  • And Rapunzel after that. I think after these past few years of Audiences complaining about the new computerized Disney films has finally shaken Disney into going back to Disney Artistry. I still remember when Eisner swore Disney did it's last Animated Movie and crushed my dream of ever being a Disney Animator :P.

  • Yea. But if Disney returns to its past illustrations and originality then you shall be able to revive you dreams and make it!

  • they are in the disney movie the princess and teh frog.. directed by the same guys who amde the little mermiad .. coming out in 2009

  • Thanks for uploading this, loved it. This is just an amazing movie. I'm actually a CG animator, but I'm desperate for them to make traditionally animated films like this again! I am only involved in animation at all because of the effect these movies had on me a child. Pixar can make the CG movies, DISNEY should be making these. It's the magic the company was built on.

Do your best to help make Princess and the Frog a commercial success, everyone! :)

  • Beauty and the Beast is the best disney

    storie ever
