A lovely and fun film.....it looked like they were having fun making this one. Good, talented cast and an exceptional Revell score. His best scores, as was the way of the great John Barry, can compose passion and lovely, romantic sensuality without ever stooping to vulgarity. Wonderful to listen to with good wine in a darkened, one-candle or fireplace-lit room. Sweet.
@sosidecop64 I do believe that's part of what they were going for with that. Graeme Revell is a brilliant composer, and his tribute to Nancy Sinatra in this love theme is definitely a proper observation. Also, Robbie Williams' "Millennium" was big around this time...
Please, which is the title of the song played while Elizabeth Shue run to take her cardiac pills? She was kissing Val Kilmer when she run into the kitchen because her heart was exploding. Thank you very much for your help!!!!!
Does anyone know the name of the song that was played when he was in her apartment seducing her? I can't find it anywhere! A girl is singing. I want that song.
Well, this was actually pre-Bourne, so it's possible Bourne imitated this, but you're right about some of Kilmers acting. I really have to give kudos to Elizabeth Shue, who is just an amazing actress anyway.
Bourne is a totally different character in every aspect!Simon Templer is basically a modern day Robin Hood where Bourne was a top secret government agent on the path to redemption.
Yeah, the character is a lot different (way better I'd say). But they seem to do some similar gags, and the action style is also similar. Os the movies are a little the same.
there isn't any "gag" in Bourne which is rather visible in THE SAINT.Also THE SAINT never relied on action, there was very little action if barely so, even in the original series while Bourne embodies the genre action/thriller.
Does anyone know where to get this movie with the extended alternate ending. I have seen it in Europe and it ends VERY differently. Lots of gunplay, tanks, Tretiak and his son die in the end of the Euro version. It is very well filmed and very action packed. Would love to see it again.
I did enjoy it but in a sort of 'so bad its good' kind of way. The scene where kIlmer pretends to be a south African artist in order to seduce Shue is one of the most hilarious in film history.
A nice piece of music. The soundtrack for 'The Saint' along with the cinematography were both excellent. But the story, some of the dialogue and Kilmer's performance were at times preposterous. It actually looks like a Bourne movie with Bond style set pieces and story ( from the Brosnan era anyway) but Kilmer's character also lent it to comparisons to Austin Powers though that was of course unintentional.
that's an awesome woman...helps you run away from the law!

Largely underrated actor who can take on so many varied roles and steal the show!
Loved him as the real character Doc Holliday in "Tombstone"
