My mother worked with Jack before and after he was in the Carry On films, she still remembers him fondly and says he was an absolute gentleman. He had long been doing this character as part of his routine and it was spotted by the Carry On producers and they fitted the character into the films. Everyone used to try to mimick him, but no one could do it properly - something he was always very proud of!
