Yes, I agree. There was also the episode when Boycie and Marleyne want to adopt the son of a German lady, but found out it was half cast. When Marleyne suggested they could get away with it, Boycie replied "I cannot convince people that my granddad was Louis Armstrong!"!
Yeah, I thought that for a long time too, before I started watching it properly, and I noticed in the credits something like "Theme song written and sung by John Sullivan", the guy who wrote all of the Only Fools and Horses.
Yeah I remember that one, it's the episoder after Albert moves in with them. You're right, this equal rights crap has basicly destroyed good comedy, there's not much left any more. I mean, they were never offensively racist in Only Fools, but now they can't even say things like pakis. I wish they had made more, but they obviously can't do any more now, they're too old for it.
All of the episodes were brilliantly written by john sullivan, admittly i think they should of left it as them getting rich and going off down the yellow brick road but im just glad that the bbc allowed them to make more of these jems because they was going to pull the plug after series 1!!
hmmm yeah the longer it went on the weaker it got. They should have stopped making them period when they came into their millions. Still, best british comedy though...evAr!
up until 1985 they were good episodes from then on wen they met their birds the show started to lose steam. I mean just look at the ones they made a few years ago so unfunny. I would have stopped the show in '85
It wasn't '85. The first time Del met Racquel was in the 1988 christmas special and Rodney met Cassandra in series 6 at the beginning of 1989. I know what you mean when you say it was funnier with just Del, Rodney and Albert/Grandad.
They did make some good episodes after '85. The Jolly Boys Outing, Danger UXD, Class of '62. The early episodes when it was just Del, Rodney and Albert/Grandad definately had something special about them. When Damien was born it definately went downhill.
Del, Rodney and Grandad/Albert were a winning formula - spoilt when the wives and kid came into it. The financial windfall they had also spoilt the formula. Del's personality also changed in the later years. He used to be the street-wise one, the geezer with a wad of cash, he looked after his not-so-wise brother and although he had his failings as a businessman, he was always the one with his head on his shoulders. In the later years, he became a complete buffoon. Shame.
there will never be another comedy like this,i´m just lucky it happened in my lifetime, thanks Del,Rodders(dave)grandad, uncle Albert, trig,Boysee and co,love ya all

I used to believe for the longest time that Nicolas Lyndhurst was the one singing the theme tune. Sounds very like him, anyone agree?
