Watch a Pre-January 8th copy of Inception. Listen closely when the actors say imagine, reality, safe, and envelope, or point pistols. You'll hear the words, Loughner, offin' her, part of the word Giffords, and much more. Some say they hear, do it.
@stephaniiesweetiie the gravity comment is funny because many Americans think that Canada is wildly different than America in ridiculous ways (like thinking Canadians live in Igloos etc.)
I've never heard of anyone who thinks Canadians live in igloos.
The main stereotype about Canadians that I encounter is that they are overly polite and self-deprecating (sometimes to the point of passive-aggression). Also that Canadians punctuate their sentences with the utterance, "eh?".
I use the metric system and today it is -8 C in Montreal. Yes, we do have a sulfur dioxide atmosphere and also, to keep warm, I throw a block of sulfur in the fireplace.
@DrewBludd probably haven't seen it cause it was from MAD tv :P i thought the same thing while watching it, if you look you can see some of the letters on the wall, the guy's face on a pane of glass on the window. but to me, biggest clue, was seeing "FOX" on the bottom right and never once remembering fox airing KITH
I'm Canadian, cavestory - I agree we're more open minded, it seems like we're more accepting - the general everyday people that I know seem to be like this - especially if you/I think that TV represents US culture. But, we are warmongering - and, trust me I've taken a long time to come to this conclusion - my best friend of many years is Afghani and is hazara so I get the argument that we are trying to protect some people - but the people we have over there are soldiers and it's not our country
As a canadian, the last line "at least we have universal healthcare" is hilarious - it's pretty much the only difference we have. Canadianscan't deny we're pretty much the exact same culture as the US - the one fact that separates us is universal health care.
I wouldn't say that, like for example Canada actually has a culture. Canada isn't a paranoid warmongering religious/ignorant country. Canada has a far better economic, school, and obviously a better healthcare system; and we have a better government.
As seen in surveys and studies, Canada isn't anywhere near as obese as the US is, nor do we have such a high divorce rate like that of the States. We're a far more open-minded and accepting country as a whole in comparison.
@CaveStoryChannel I'm just saying, if you're claiming to be an open-minded Canadian, you shouldn't be judging other countries on things like divorce rates.
@CaveStoryChannel Exactly, it's the opposite of being judgmental, and bragging that Canada has a lower divorce rate IS being judgmental, which is NOT being open-minded. Get it?
@CaveStoryChannel Dude, open-minded is synonymous with tolerant. Judgmental is synonymous with narrow-mindedness. If there is a difference between the terms "judgmental" and "narrow-minded", it's that judgmental has a self-righteous element to it, but otherwise, they're pretty much the same, and therefore, "judgmental" and "open-minded" are opposite terms.
I don't like Barbara Streisand and I'm American. I think we have potential for the Americans and the Canadians who dislike Barbara to unite as one, and banish her from North America and while were at it, get rid of that talentless hack Yoko Ono as well.
@MadHabber93 OH GOD YES!!!!!!!!! Through that talentless little pe-on in to the mix as well. We should score up a deal with Russia, and send them to Siberia.
@maluorno The good news is that it isn't communist, people who use that word to describe our health care system don't really understand either communism, or our health care system.
If basically all of the major corporations didn't have their headquarters in the USA we'd have just as much trouble with corporations as they are. I guess that's one of the pitfalls of having an economy as robust as the US's.
@GrilledAngus Well, he is Canadian. It's a satirical jab at Stereotypes and gullibility. Basically saying, believe all this hilarious ridiculous stuff America, because you've done it before!
"in canada we're ruled by a small boy with special powers...whom we're all very fond of" lol that's gotta be a reference to the twilight zone episode "its a good life"
Oh, but yes, I have a huge fondness for any and all things Canadian. Been to Nova Scotia and it's beautiful. But the comics are just wonderful. Especially the 5 that make up the brilliance that was, is and will always be, The Kids In the Hall. :) Dave Foley is my hero! :)
Anyone remember Dave's line on KITH when asked if he's an American? "No, I'm Canadian. It's like an American, but without a gun". Yep, that's pretty much it.
@viper10011 "im canadian and I own 8 guns lol 1 in 5 canadians have one registered under there name what are you talking about lol." that was you. any more questions regarding how that could possibly sound illiterate?
@viper10011 Hey, I'd take that over "God, Guns, and Crazy" America any day. (I'm an American and some people in my own country make me ashamed of it).
It's from Season 4 ('92-'93), the episode is called "Ricardo." I laughed so hard. Dave plays a Western tourist trying to eat his meal at a beach restaurant; Scott playing a Caucasian-looking "Filipino" shoeshine boy extorts American dollars from him.
Yup- they're filming "Death Comes To Town" Dave and the rest of the group are all staying right here in North Bay, Ontario! They're always walking around at the shopping-mall....and buying food at the grocery store- where I work! It's pretty cool, man! Today Scott Thompson picked up some stuff...
Oh yeah..... I guess that's true the region codes are different over in the U.K. You can order an All Regions Player on Ebay.... Thenn you'd be able to play anything you want! By the way- over here in Canada, we LOVE the Brits! You guys rock!!!! :)
i'm starting to see some twilight zone influences in this show.
for example in this one when he says we're ruled by a boy with supernatural powers. it was nice to hear such a subtle reference, if it was indeed a reference.
It was 1995 because that was the first season of Mad TV. They also had Bruce McCulloch, Scott Thompson, and Kevin McDonald make appearances similar to this one.
