wow these are some FAN tastic coolers! Haha get the joke!? Whatever nowim gonna go spam my new joke to every fan/cooler videos cuz im a lonely fucker :D
The Cooler Master hyper Z600 is a passive cooler. Are there any others that are fanless as well and how well would they perform with a an Athlon X4 635 processor assuming there isn't a single fan in the case (fanless PSU)?
Yes just watch the temps and overclock little by little also depends on the cpu and which cooler you have. just read up on what the max temp your cpu can get and try to stay 10 degrees under that.
@Edge0fPain better than average with 3 fans itll help pull air out of the case and keep more than just the cpu cool and also...duh you need case fans to keep hot air out not just a cpu cooler.
im buying one soon but i need to know hpertx3 or coolermaster 212 plus ...or xigmateksHDT963...casue im low on budget... and the diff between xigmatek s963 and s1283...thank you i need to know quick
@KHONObakayaro Out of those the coolermaster 212 if you have room in your case and the difference between the s963 and the s1283 are size for the most part the s963 is 92mm and the s1283 has a 120mm fan.
@scar1343 Idle temps don't matter in the least. No air cooler will keep a modern chip at that temp under load. Under load is what matters.. and stock coolers are horrible.
i bet it burns up while gaming though. Idle temps dont mean a thing. Its the temps under load that count. and trsut me, the intel stock cooler is crap. Any stock cooler is crap.
The best is cooler should be Noctua NH-D14 at the moment
But the Noctua is costs more than twice as much as the Mugen 2 for maybe a 2-3 °C lower temperature .... conclusion of this? Noctua is a waste of money ^^
I love the NH-D14, it's huge though and comes really close to the memory. Can't beat it's performance though and yeah I know it wasn't out when this video was made.
the thing about air cooling is...as long as it cools under your CPU max temp its doing its job...i mean what is the difference between the D-14 cooling a CPU to 40C under load and the V10 cooling it to 44C under load sure the D-14 beats it by 4 c but both are doing what they are made for. So saying all others are shit as TYROCK says is both incorrect and elitist. A good after market 30 dollar air cooling unit will prevent your CPU from burning up when your OCing..so how it that "shit"?
i think that the coolmaster v 10 is probably the best , but is quite expensive for air cooling wich is why i like the coolmaster v 8 that is a ot cheaper and cools a lot
Best coolers at this date are either Cooler Master V10 which is silent and cools down ram or Thermalright TRUE Copper combined with Papst 4112N2H4 355m³/ hour which it's loud as hell but nothing beats it..
@Backwardsman97 go with the scythe i have one and on a cpu short of an oc'd phenom2 965 or an I7 980 it will most likely put the peak at the stock coolers idle. or at least thats what it did on my phenom 9650
@Backwardsman97 it will be fine as i have mine on a vertical motherboard. the mounting hardware is seriously beefy, to the point where i dont worry about the mobo bending or breaking
Define "Best"? Best at: stock speed? Price/performance ratio? Good cooling while having the lowest noise? There is no such thing as one size fit all for CPU cooler.
The best, price/performance ratio, with great overclocking ability and average fan noise is undoubtedly the Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus. It beats the Xigmatek and it's cheaper.
If you want to reach the highest clock and noise is no object, them get a Megahalem and slap it with 2 hight speed 120MM fan. Beats the NH-D14 @4.2Ghz+
Hello guys, I just made a video of me overclocking my I-7(920) using 2 floor model freezers. I've never seen anybody try this before using affordable cheap freezers so tried. the of the video is called "Overclocking I-7(920) using two Freezers!"
@UTUBESUCK666 Well said, the same applies to most PC components, there's no one size fits all. I'm going with the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus for my future build, because of it's high performance/price ratio. AU$39, can't go wrong :) Should be quieter than the stock AMD Phenom 955 cooler I hope.
and you sure are brave talking shit online rather than face to face boy. a person not open to ideas is an idiot, and that's not talking shit , that's a fact.

@friskoscity (By the way, increasing the fan's speed doesn't help a lot. I tried my personal experiments, and found that you can decrease by 2-3 degrees Celsius by increasing the fan's speed, except if you add some turbo solutions by Delta or Vantec (tornado)). I think that some changes have to be made to the design to solve the problem in the near future. Else....
@CorneliusGrim Have looked LONG and hard at this problem, trust me hours of research...
The cooler I have settled on is the true black 120- it is black as it is nickel coated to prevent the aluminium degrading over time. Beats the 9700 hands down- note though that it is a bit of a selfish cooler- the zalmans spread the airflow about more. 9700 will keep your processor frosty, but the 120 will keep it icy plus you get to chose your fan. I m on a 9500 so its a zalman fanboy saying this.
Hi timmy nice setup but i have some tips/questions:
-Why The ANTEC1200? ANTEC 900 is good enough for what you put in and alot cheaper.
-For the Samsung harddrive, go for the samsung spinpoint F3, Theyre really fast and not expensive
-Antec PSU is a good choice but why 850 watt? are u going to upgrade in the future? The corsair 850 PSU is slightly cheaper and has a little bit more juice.
thankz mate yea kinda wanna leave room for upgrades in the future with a extra graphic card and maybe more ram but that down the track just been tryin to get as much info as possible because it my frist build ording parts on tuesday ill make a video when im done
id say to you, its a good idea to get a higher performance cooler right off the hop. build a nice well rounded system, and don't let the sickness take you to far. lol
i would also recommend getting a ati radeon 5770 and going with a mid-tower case. if you aren't planning on adding more video cards, that psu might be a little more than you need. hope this helped.
just a quick question im just building my frist custom pc how important is it to get a cpu cooler and graphic card cooler and hard driver cooler i was only gonna get a cpu cooler i didnt think u needed a harddrive cooler or a graphic card cooler he my pc specs -
The IFX-14 and Megahalems or Mega Shadow are by far the best air coolers on the market... but they get spendy with quality fans like Panaflo's or San Aces and fan controllers, etc, so I'd say the Cooler Master V8, coming in at $45-55 is the best for someone wanting to go on the cheap; Mugen 2 is just as good if you don't need LGA 1156 support.
The best CPU aircooler right now is the Prolimatech Megahalems and Megashadow. These will eat the Thermalright alive as well as all Cooler Master, Xigmatek, Zalman and other aircoolers.
what about v8 or v10 from coolermaster?

buy a Cooler master V8 or v10. but the v10 is overkill
HonourAmongThieves 1 year ago
The V10 cools RAM too, so not overkill. The Corsair Dominator RAM fans aren't good.
BoogieWithStew 1 year ago
how high are you overclocking your cpu/ram for cpu i have the corsair h50
HonourAmongThieves 1 year ago
4GHz with 12GB Dominator DDR3 not overclocked (1600MHz) but sticks are close together, since all slots are filled, so less airflow.
The Cooler Master V10 blows down onto the RAM, so it's a CPU and RAM cooler. They don't get this point across well enough in their marketing.
So options are: run a V8 + Corsair RAM cooling fan (which is loud, and the motors can cause electromagnetic interference), or run a V10.
BoogieWithStew 1 year ago

actully no need for cpu cooler at the beginning, the only thing is that a stock cooler that comes with the cpu makes kinda alot of noise :S

@timmy8372
Ok cool send me a message then. Good luck building!
bekhouwe8888 2 years ago
id say to you, its a good idea to get a higher performance cooler right off the hop. build a nice well rounded system, and don't let the sickness take you to far. lol

@timmy8372
-The ram is fine but make sure the CAS lantencys are low like 4-4-4-12. If you are going to overclock i reccomend the OCZ ram.
-Im not familliar with the AMD cpu's but have you took a look at the new i5 processors? they are smokin fast and cheap. A real bang for the buck!
-Videocard is a great choice, an alternative would be the Radeon 5770. It performs almost equal but has some new features.
bekhouwe8888 2 years ago
i think you should get a HD 4890 cos the price difference is minimal and you get much more over clocking headroom,
and probobly you wont need such a powerful psu
CRW5900 2 years ago
get all those things at newegg and you cut your cost in half.
HowsItBroin 2 years ago
i would also recommend getting a ati radeon 5770 and going with a mid-tower case. if you aren't planning on adding more video cards, that psu might be a little more than you need. hope this helped.

I got the Xigmatek Dark Knight, keeps my Phenom 965 oc'd to 3.9 at a nice and cozy 27 degrees idle, 40 max load.

You people tend to forget the date of this video (June 30, 2008) so of course there are better coolers that he didn't mention in the video.

Coming in at 6 1/2 inches tall its too big for a lot of people. The tallest I can put in my case is 5 1/2

For me the zalman 9700 or 9900 with a overlaped cpu and a side fan case works freakin awsome in cooling.
cisco760ca 2 years ago
Does air go through the case good or does the xigmatek s1284 block the air?

Hello 3D Gameman, can you give an update to the best aircoolers :D

Is ThermoLab Baram better than Mugen2?
gamerpablo 2 years ago
The best CPU aircooler right now is the Prolimatech Megahalems and Megashadow. These will eat the Thermalright alive as well as all Cooler Master, Xigmatek, Zalman and other aircoolers.
