you know, i would like to see the first black james bond and i think eddie could pull it off, i mean hes quite a cool guy and although hes 50, roger moore was older and still did a few bond films, i mean we got a black president time for a black james bond!
@hatillik He was tired of being known for it along with new comics using his laugh for their material...I remember reading about him intentionally training himself to lose it.
@hatillik thats not his real laugh thts his acting laugh n when hes doing comedy, like he said lot of ppl dont know the real eddie murphy they just see all his films and his comedy and assume thts how he really is as himself.
@Zephyesa Really? I didn't know that. I alwayz thought that his trademark laugh back in the day was actually real? So that laugh was just part of is act then, huh?
@1ballz08 not to the extent on which he kept on delivering it, when he saw how much people liked it.
After a while he stopped doing it, the exaggerated accent on the laugh that had probably started off as something natural and much smaller, got tiring for him.
@1ballz08 I saw eddies career take off as he was just 8 years older than me, when he became the worlds biggest movie icon for about 5 -6 years, and thenI saw him fall and crash doing woeful movies for years, trying to recapture that cool tough humourous charismatic carefree slick guy that the world had briefly taken so much to heart, evreywhere eddie went back in the eighties he was mobbed and screamed at by fans everywhere, then very suddenly he fell out of such incredible popularity.
@1ballz08 (cont) I can honestly say, I have never wittnessed such a meteoritic rise to stardom as eddies, then such a hard sudden fall and crash.
And to the mans credit, he was big enough and smart enough to get up and dust himself off and take a good long hard look at himself, and then do what hardly any stars can do after such a rise and fall which is to re invent yourself, to have the courage to try a new angle on his character which he did, and now he is a a success again.
@hatillik the younger generation see him as the goofball comedic genius, who does great multi character movies and the voice of donkey in Shrek, but I'm from the generation who grew up with him as a very cool and funny smooth tough guy icon, and despite how he changed, thats how he will always be to me, and my generation, if not historically.
Eddie suceeded in the end because he never gave up on himself.
@Zephyesa Indeed. I grew up watching him in the 80's myself and, for the most part, I agree with you. I'm looking foward to seeing what he does next. That new movie coming out soon entitled "Tower Heist" (I think)lookz promising. Thanx for taking the time to respond so thoroughly, Zephyesa. I really appreciate it! :)
@hatillik naaa this is how he actually laughs, the other one was just act. Dave chappelle, Chris Rock, same thing, they have a goofy boring laugh for some reason
@hatillik To quote Murphy"I don't laugh like that anymore, somehow it doesn't come out. It's weird to change something that's as natural as that. But it started out as a real laugh, then it turned into people laughing because they thot my laugh was funny, and then there were a couple of times where I laughed because I knew it would make people laugh. Then it got weird.People came up to me and said,"Do that laugh",or if U laugh someone turns around and goes"Eddie?"I just stopped doing it."

@hatillik because that wasnt his natural laugh, you cant fake something forever, it gets too much effort for you when you are tired and bored of it.
