You can put any Bemani game on settings that make the notes unreadable. IIDX has hs5+hidden+sudden. It's still only done by people who memorise the charts (not the songs) to show off. Memorising the rhythm of the song doesn't help at all if you don't also memorise what notes are going to come down.

And talking about GFDM is apples/oranges because it is far easier to memorise songs on DM than IIDX (not that I'd want to)

Well it was an exaggerated comparison of two different types of players, those that rely on the note chart and those that rely on the music, naturally, all players are a certain mix of the two, until the ressurection of Zatoichi that is.

ganymede(a) at 0 speed, that new empress song 600bpm or something at 5.0 speed, hidden mode, hid+sud mode, lisus AAAs at 0 speed etc. are all good examples that you don't have to rely on the notechart.

You can AAA PC a chart and still think it sucks. Pluto's chart revolves solely around a gimmick that exist only to throw you off. I shouldn't need to go through a process of trial and error, which is why I stopped playing DDR.

BPM changes should only be used when the tempo of the song shifts to a speed that isn't just halved or doubled from what it was prior to said-BPM change. Going from 130 to 260/65 is retarded. It says "I COULD stay the same BPM, but I won't. Fuck you."
