UFC is against SOPA because a lot of people find ways to watch the PPVs for free. There's nothing wrong with that. Plus the video itself was great, and shows why this is the best sport in the world. We stream it privately with rarely any more than 100 people. All must donate.

The majority of people don't donate anything - they simply find the PPV online & watch it for free. But - where exactly are your "donations" going to? Is it going to Zuffa, the company who owns the product? Is it going to PayPal? Or is it going into the uploader's pockets? It's theft, no matter how much you try to spin it.
The streamer can't donate to Zuffa. And I don't even know if restaurants do that. Maybe if we argue in a circle about semantics and the meaning of theft we will keep reaching the same conclusion. Anyways, you have to consider that although it is technically theft but not PHYSICAL theft then its for a good reason. What does the average person need to watch these PPVs?
First they need the proper cable subscription. My apartment complex only supports Comcast. With no box. I can't watch PPVs just for that. Secondly, a paid for box and PPV channels. And last of all the money for the PPV. Let's say there are 1 paid for PPV for the UFC a month and you buy all of them. That would be over 600$ a year. How does a full-time college student with crappy financial aid afford that?

I'm ok with your walmart theory but that's kind of equating watching a product for free that somebody who streamed it (in other words paid for it.) Alright. I live in Miami so I can just cross the street, pay a cheap entree at a Buffalo Wild Wings, and just watch the fights there. That would be like what, 5-10$ of food and just keep asking for refills. I actually pay more by donating with paypal to see our paid stream. I don't just go to any random site streaming it. We stream it privately with rarely any more than 100 people. All must donate.

The majority of people don't donate anything - they simply find the PPV online & watch it for free. But - where exactly are your "donations" going to? Is it going to Zuffa, the company who owns the product? Is it going to PayPal? Or is it going into the uploader's pockets? It's theft, no matter how much you try to spin it.

First they need the proper cable subscription. My apartment complex only supports Comcast. With no box. I can't watch PPVs just for that. Secondly, a paid for box and PPV channels. And last of all the money for the PPV. Let's say there are 1 paid for PPV for the UFC a month and you buy all of them. That would be over 600$ a year. How does a full-time college student with crappy financial aid afford that?
