omg my family always says this & i randomly asked why they say that & they told me it was because of this commercial that used to be on all the time. haha wow.
i love seeing old tv ads however I wish people would not F-them up with watermarks logos and things not originally with the ad.. this ruins future history and takes credit for something you didn't create or own.It would be nice for people to know there once was a time that you could see the whole tv screen...
This commercial ran for more than 20 years. Never saw any of the players thereafter. They didn't have to work! All three must have made a small fourtune in residuals!
I once heard this joke: A Jewish guy was in Hong Kong. He started giving a guy a bunch of crap about Pearl Harbor. The 2nd guy said, "Wait a minute. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. I'm Chinese!" The Jew said, "Chinese, Japanese, they're all the same to me!" The Chinese guy then said, "What about when the Jewish sank the Titanic?" The Jew said, "How did the Jewish sink the Titanic? It was sank by an iceberg!" The Chinese guy said, "Iceberg, Goldberg, they're all the same to me!"
What cracks me up is that they showed this ad for so long (until at least the mid 80s) that the film colors started to look washed out and faded! (No pun intended.................)
love it and haven't seen since 1978 or 1979. looking for "SILIKENCE" COMMERICIAL with asian model with long beautiful black hair and Jeane te' commercial.
One of the most famous "Calgon" commercials, which played for YEARS (eventually with different boxes), and made the phrase "Ancient Chinese Secret" a part of advertising folklore....
Lying yellow bastard!

Oh yes, let's not forget the announcer---lucky guy, all he had to say were just nine words, and the money rolled in for years!

This is one of the first commercials I ever remember vividly.
The lady with the "Detergent" and Calgon. The "Detergent" had some funny ingredients, too. lol

yeah, I saw the "new and improved" version first, and was very disappointed. It didn't have the same energy.
I wanted to see the wife make the crazy eyes when she says 'Calgon!"
