A rimmed case has a lip that protrudes out from the base of the case of a larger diameter than the base. The ar-15 and ak-47 both use rimless cases. Rimless cases function better in auto's than do rimmed cases. But alas I'm afraid I'm waisting my breath.
@CrazyVideoGamer815 -What? You do realize that autoloading pistol rounds ARE rimless!!!! Have you ever even shot an autoloader? This was a 44 Wildey Automagnum that used rimless cases. That is not to say that there is not pistols that fire rimmed cases.....Desert Eagle 44 and 357; the Coonan Arms 357 mag...etc....

The Desert Eagle does not use rimless cartridges. It uses standard rimmed .44 Magnum, just like the revolvers.
