wow! it's an excellent translation of one short day from english to japanese but i noticed they missed something. the lines "two good friends, two best friends" signified elphaba and glindas recognition of true friendship, and if they missed the line it might make it weird that elphaba and glinda are suddenly friends? well actually, this might not be the case considering end-dancing through life/popular songs in which glinda also helps elphaba andwhatnot

i wanted to keep pausing it to compare the lyrics, but the only way to truly enjoy this song is to allow it to run. in the end my eyes felt weird looking at all the lyrics.

The only lyrics i didnt like in the japanese version was the part at the end where they say they are now best friends. That, other than popular kind of, is the first and only part in the show where they establish their friendship and it bugs me that it was changed because that is the heart of this show, their friendship.

@elphbwckd well in japan the fact she's calling her by her first name and a nickname at that shows how good friends they are, in japan using a person's first name is a huge deal, on close friends do that , a nickname is an even bigger deal

but never in the direct translation do they ACTUALLY SAY 'one short day'....

and i agree with the "we're just two friends, two good friends, two best friends" issue...

only bit I didn't like was how "we're just two friends, two good friends, two best friends" was replaced with "our dreams will come true" in the Japanese version - I think that's removing an important bit of the song.

And yes city is shitii because they don't have the "si" sound in Japanese, so they pronounce it "shi".

LOL I think its sort of funny but bad that they use that, since alot of non-Japanese people probably laugh at the use of Shitii, which does sound like shitty, which the Emerald City is of course NOT. And wow they use alot of time to say certain things! I watched the lyrics and while a few American lines flew past, it was taking that much time to say one Japanese line! Interesting.
