  • Great vid. 2 notables beyond the obvious great ride by Cancellara:

First, the unsung stud muffin is the FdJ rider Ladagnous. In the break for the last 100km, rather than sit up when caught, he digs even deeper and tries to bridge up to Cancellara (at 0:39). A superhuman effort!

Second, the QuickStep rider leading the chase flicks his elbow (at 0:28), then stops pedaling altogether, waiting for someone to pull through. No one does, an insurmountable gap opens, and Cancellara wins by a hair.

  • de drugs...

  • This was just an utter pisstake from Cancellara. What an absolute beast. Phenomenal.

  • Bad ass mother.

  • 1:20 1000 cars trying to chase a train!

  • Muthafucka' didn't even go in the drops. What a badass.

  • The 4 people who dislike: Hunter, Mcewen, Zabel and Napolitano.

  • This is the SECOND best finsih I have ever seen. The only better finish I have seen, was one I had the front row seat in, when I won Mount Perry. As a sprinter I climbed over to Hors category climbs with the some of the best climbers in the business, both coming in the last 20km. There were just six of us left, I was sucking in the big ones before blowing the field apart....2nd place was Daylight, followed in 3rd by the spares vehicle....I forget who finished 4th and so on.

  • @TheCrocHunter1 That is the SECOND best story I've ever read. The only better story was one I told last week. It blew my listeners away. Their brains melted, ran out of their ears onto the floor, then burst into flames. You're lucky I refuse to repeat it.

  • ¡¡¡E.T.!!!!

  • this is the best finish ever

  • @JoeCalzageTheCoward, Nô it's Contador. Rasmussen was excluded of this TDF.

  • my most favorite finish ever

  • yeah hes got a TT sprint. On the hoods? Holy crap!

  • This was just so damn impressive. The only thing similar I've seen in 20+ years of watching the tour was Vino winning in Paris. You've got to be so damn strong to beat a whole field with 2 dozen sprint specialists. Even Chuck Norris was impressed.

  • Dropping the whole field... in the last km... solo. Damn.

  • the 4 breakaway riders that got rolled dislike this

  • GOD

  • Like a Boss!

  • Takes someone special to out do a whole bunch coming up to a sprint finish like that!

  • hahahaha.. these guys are psycho hamsters! hahahahaha...

  • Best stage win in the tour EVER. He crashed the day before in a massive bunch crash. And what a way to show he still was fit 4 fight!

  • Boys play football. The men cycle.

  • cancellara es el mejor rodador que he visto, que grande!!!

    BIG CANCELLARA

  • ..sometimes, gods disguised themselves as human and ride bikes....

  • cycling, swimming, and running...the only true sports

  • háha_sÙcht_màl_ñAch:_geldeasy_Áùf_gÓÓgle

  • great rider spartacus cancellara

spartacus is how we belgians call this fenomenon

  • There is simply no one who can pull this off, except for Fabu. Soo good.

  • I saw this video many times and always knew the outcome, but still, i can't believe what he did !

  • cavendish looks like he's wearing an aero helmet lol

  • "That will serve them right"

  • @BluuSkyz "That will serve them completely and utterly right"

  • hahah

  • still can't believe it...:|

    :X

  • It's so odd looking. Almost like an optical illusion. All the sprinters can't even get up to him as he's just grinding to the line. Super crazy.

  • @cyclistboy123 That was my thought.. he is not sprinting and he is only out of the saddle for a very short time to get more tempo, then he sits down again... I think the rest of the peoloton thought it was an optical illusion too

  • oh. my. god.

  • the gladiator - go on spatacus

  • Wow...Cancellara is a sick manimal. That was incredible.

  • @karldiesen Both, I think

  • @karldiesen well, on Swiss Tv he said that he has to be very careful with his weight training. Because of his genetics he only has to "look" at weights and he already builds muscle.

  • Comment removed

  • What a beast!

  • "I do not believe this...the strength of the race leader?!?" You gotta love that. Best stage finish ever.

  • That was pretty much the most surprising thing that has ever happened.

  • "That'll serve 'em right!"

  • Go Cancellara!

  • love it ! :D

  • fake!!!! ; )

  • This is one the best race finishes ever.

I don't think the hands relevant in this clip. He's not sprinting. He's finishing his "1 km time trial" where as the others are actually sprinting and therefore have a different grip. I don't believe he dopes his bike and I think it's ludicrous. But it's a great way to start a conversation about cycling.

  • look at where his hands are and compare it to every single other cyclist!

  • @Lawcheehung

You really don't know anything about Cyclisme, do you?

He's holding his hands over there because he's not sprinting, he's doing a time trial for 1 km here. If you ever rode a bike, you would know, idiot

  • @kikkers123 C’est vraiment des conneries!

  • I think he is accused for cheating juts because he is holding hes hands so strange, in this sprint is he tho only one that is holding the hands high on the steering and over the mechanism for the brakes.

  • he owes it all to dura-ace

  • Must've been using a motor here too, eh?

  • Beautiful WIN! Go Fabian!

  • That was intense! Nice video.

  • madre mía qué follada

  • what a beast

  • He wasn't even in the drops!

  • It's because he's Spartacus! BEAST of a man!

  • I loved that finish. Cancellara, in yellow coming past the entire field to win. That was one of my favourite TdF moments.

  • cycling best sport.................EVER

  • @Frooze08 well said

  • best tour de france stage ever...!!!

  • Who cares what wattage, what cobblestones, who was tired, who was not, was there a tailwind, was there not...the fact is the Yellow Jersey rode off the front of a Tour de France sprint finish and won the stage.....the best win of the decade, perhaps all time.....Cancellara is the strongest and greatest rider of all time.

  • ye cancellara is a great cyclist

but wat about mcewens win the previous day, or cavendish's milan san remo, or cancellara's prologues in london and monaco

obviously to just ride away from the field over the last kilometers is something few cyclist could do, but i dont know if its the best win of all time or the dacade

i mean im a fan of cancellara though - look for him to win the prologue in rotterdam next year and beat chris boardmans record for the fastest ever prologue

  • Espectacular

  • Now, there was no good train and the stage was 232 km in lenght, so less could perhaps do it. I dunno what the wind direction was like either, and he had a little bit of slipstream on his way.

Normally it's just impossible to complete a move like this with a straight road.

To comment your claim, I'd like to remind you that the world record at 1km is a little below 59 secs. That is, with STANDING start. What kind of wattage do you think that is? Cavendish does 2500+ watts over 200 metres...

  • there was a little bit of coblestones, sometime before that made the others tired, i belive.

  • I've got SRM files from a 1000 meter time trial in 1min and 2 seconds with 913 Watts in average...

  • 700? You gotta be kidding me. With an anaerobic threshold at 550 watts he can push 700 for like 6-8 minutes. He pushed about 1000 here. Particularly the acceleration process is a pain in the ass. It has to be very powerful, cause if you get a leadout guy at your wheel just once, you can forget it. That's why counterattacks work best. An example is how Fabian won the Milan-San Remo last year - he countered a move by Landaluze with 2 km to go, and with the speed already high, it was game over!

  • there are a very dumb ciclist, at the begenning of video, with white-green jersey, who look behind 1-2-3-4- etc. , even when was at 30ºth place, he still looking behind. Cancellara only look the finish line

  • hmmm that would be over 12 Watts per kilo over a minute....that's not possible but perhaps 800-850W would be realistic

  • omg he must have done at least 700 watts of power at the last km

  • What a fucking animal.

  • hahahahaha I can't stop laughing with your comment, but it's true, awesome sprint!!

  • haha, jens voigt for gc??

    wtf

he's a good workhorse but no way he will survive in the leading group through both the pyranees and alps.

  • after his horrific crash today, voigt is unfortunately out of the tour anyway.

  • meister

  • cavendish was there, he is mentioned as there at 0:25.

Cancellara just did his own mini time trial and powered ahead, what a champ

  • Great

it can best time trialist only.

  • Every time I watch this video, I still get all nervous wondering if Cancellara can hang on until the line...

  • This. Actually the same with Erik Dekker at Paros - Tours 2004.

  • C'est une vraie masse un des meilleurs coureurs à l'heure actuelle très complet et quelle puissance !

  • tdf

    mallot jaune-jens voigt

    green jersey-mark cavnedish

polka dot and here is a suprise lance armstrong

    my picks

    message me reesenobles

  • contador (won't even be close)

    cavendish

    andy schleck

  • Comment removed

  • Dumb Ass. We are predicting who would win in their own specialty. Did you even read the poster above me? i'm guessing not...

Yellow jersey - Contador (wasn't close like i said)

Green jersey - Cavendish (still the best sprinter)

Polka dot- Andy (2nd best climber in the world)

Granted i made a misjudgment on the polka dot jersey, since andy had bigger fish to fry.

  • quelle brute ce cancellara

  • Can cancellera win the tour or will he be george hincappie, stuart o'grady, type of rider? But yet my money is Jens Voight to challege for GC this year. He is old enough and ready. everyone will be watching frank schleck

  • I think Jens is a bit to old to be a GC Contender

  • voigt is not a climber anyway

  • Only other riders with this amount of power from the past 30years-Bernard Hinault & Francesco Moser-both animals!!

  • What a finish -- with the peloton in sight of the break, both are playing chicken; meanwhile Cancellara looks straight ahead and rides through them all. Usually I hate seeing the break caught in sight of the line but not this time.

  • Cancellara is no diesel. A diesel is miguel indurain. Cancellara is pure power. No one, but no one, can put as much power as Cancellara can into his pedals. He can win the prologue, and ride the peloton of his wheel in a bunch sprint. This is no diesel. This is power - an unusual combination of extreme physical strength matched with a huge engine.

  • @warrendevoy

Don't forget perfect balance on the bike, he gains a lot of time by taking the corners faster than anyone else.

  • Especially those head-down 4 revs at 0:43s. That was sick.

BTW, Phil did a good bit of catching that in his commentary.

  • I am responsible for 1,000 of these hits, that teaches me also, go Fabian......

  • 'The strength of the race leader...' 'saluting the yellow jersey....'

    Brilliant commentary

  • He is a world strongest man.The best!

  • What a motor! He kept the fastest sprinters of his wheel for 350+ meters. A true diesel on a great frame. Fabian plus Cervelo plus 808s for the win.

Now I just need to get a Cervelo and 808s for myself!

  • I like it when the alarm bells are ringing.

I love the look of the four breakaway guys who don't know what to make of it, and then don't have the strength to hop on anyway.

  • Fabian is fuckin class..

  • This guy has really earned my respect for him.

if anyone isn't convinced of this guys guts, check out the Olympics. He singe-handedly caught a group infront of him to earn bronze and another amzing TT for the gold.

Peoeple we have a legend on our hands.

  • I agree...and hopefully no steroids.

    he amazes me.

  • This is cycling at it's best!

1:40 the other csc rider (can't tell who he is, O'grady maybe?) is celebrating just as much as if he had won it himself!

    CSC..what a team!

  • It´s kurt asle

  • I don't think KA was in the line up in 07. He only did the Giro.

  • Frank Schleck....long face and according to the result on CN he came in 20th....seems right. Although my first guess was Jens.

  • looks like a F.Shleck salute to me

  • He isn't a man...he is a machine...fabian rules!

  • This was the most entertaining finish of the 2007 Tour!

  • he is so cool

  • i was there under the 300 meter mark!

  • one of the sweetest finishes ive ever seen, total chaos

  • Fabian jest najlepszy !!! Fabian the best !!!

  • Amazing Go Cancelarra!

  • Que fuerza... Lo mejor del Tour pasado

  • Espartaco!

  • today he has win similar in suise!!!!

  • great! very cool of Cancellara

  • Hopp Cancellara!

  • paul sherwin says "completely and utterly," and similar comments like, too much.. but i still love him hah

  • He has the power of a Giant!

  • Oops. I wanted to reply to sbd, but i did something wrong.

  • It wasn't the sprinting that did it, just his power and ability to ride extremely fast and maintain the speed for a long while. I have deep respect for this man. An awesome time-trialist and he can win courses like this and as he proved this year he can also win MilansanRemo

Cancellara on of the best riders of today

  • That was an extremely early attack from a man not really known for his sprinting.

  • yes indeed...

Fantastic victory for Cancellara. I'm so proud he rides for a Danish team. Hope we can keep him...

  • how would know what's possible? Have you ridden at that level before?

  • Solo una parola...Inumano.

  • Fabian 6 grande!!

  • this is a tipical action of a finisseur as andrey tchmil(if i write correct)!!!cancellara is a phenomeno!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • eso es exarle cojones

  • Jabite ici !!

  • geshundheit

  • I've never seen anyone sprint sitting down, let alone go from 700 metres out. :o

  • That haven't been a sprint, but an attack. ;)

  • Fabian is like a machine, even sprinters can't equal him while they've got advantage of the wind!

  • sprinters always fight cat & mouse near the finish line taking advantage of the wind breakers before sprinting to the finish, unfortunately they were surprised by one of the best time trialist, he.he.he they came in too late to catch him to the finissshhh line.. lance was so clever he never did it all his life in the tour... go fabian go

  • holly crap

im 34 and i started rding in 1984...ive never seen the yellow jersey "not a sprinter" just basically ride around the sprinters fighting among themselves to just go and take it..i bet he was pushing a 54 14, he just time trialed right pst them! theirry marrie never could do that!

  • Cancellara is a really great rider, he won this stage because he is an extremely good time-trialist, as he did in Paris-Roubaix!

    Bravo, Fabian:D

  • No doubt, the best stage finish in several years. Bravo Fabian. Lucky CSC and CERVéLO frames builders!!!.

  • HE OWNED ALL THE SPRINTERS HAHAH!

Seriously! Cancellara is the most awesome rider ever - and he drives for a danish team ;:D

  • What a Beast lol

  • holly shit...thats so hard...cycling=one of the best sports and one of the hardest..

  • Well yeah swiss Rocks but french are better!hehe

  • AMAZING O_o

  • Dang, that is a pretty tough move to pull off.

  • That was my favourite finish this year

  • that was a quality moment and a real highlight from this years tour

  • ------> Fabian Cancellara <------

  • QUE PUTO ANIMAL!!!

  • I want Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen to narrate my life..

  • gotta love phil liggett and shrewern or however you spell it
